State troopers and medics have responded to a crash near Dayton International Airport. 49-year-old Plainfield man dies in I-78 crash Thursday morning
CLINTON TOWNSHIP – A 49-year-old Plainfield man died following a crash on May 22 on Interstate 78. Around 2:13 a.m. on May 22, State Troopers responded to a report of a car crash on I-78 West near milepost 21.8, said New Jersey State Police Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron. An investigation found that a Hyundai Kona was traveling west on I-78 and veered off the roadway to the left, hit a tree, overturned, and was engulfed in flames, Lebron said. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, and no additional information is available, police said. The Brief A high-speed chase began when a driver in a Range Rover used the emergency lane to bypass traffic on Interstate 85 North, leading authorities through multiple counties in northeast Georgia. Motor Carrier Compliance Division officers deployed spike strips, deflating the vehicle's front tires, and state troopers took over the pursuit. The chase concluded with the driver attempting to flee on foot, but was apprehended using a Taser; no injuries were reported. CARNESVILLE, Ga. - A driver was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon after leading authorities on a high-speed chase through multiple counties in northeast Georgia, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety. What we know The incident began around 3:34 p.m. when state troopers spotted a black Land Rover Range Rover passing vehicles in the emergency lane on Interstate 85 North near mile marker 157. Troopers activated emergency lights to stop the vehicle, but the driver accelerated and continued using the emergency lane to bypass traffic. After exiting the interstate at Exit 166 onto Highway 106, the driver was spotted by Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) officers, who attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, initiating a pursuit that continued onto Georgia Highway 59. The driver briefly turned around on Church Street in Carnesville before heading back north on GA-59. MCCD officers deployed spike strips, successfully deflating both front tires. State troopers then took over the pursuit as the primary agency. The chase ended when the vehicle left the roadway and came to a stop. The driver attempted to flee on foot, but troopers deployed a department-issued Taser after multiple commands to stop. Teenager killed, man hospitalized in Lancaster County vehicle crash
LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Troopers have identified a driver who was killed and a passenger who was hospitalized after a vehicle lost control and crashed into multiple trees in Lancaster County in April. abc27 previously reported a vehicle that swerved into an embankment and crashed into several trees, which left the driver deceased and the passenger severely injured in Lancaster County in April. Troopers have identified the driver as a 17-year-old male and the passenger as an 18-year-old male. Troopers say on April 22 at around 7:36 p.m., the 17-year-old was traveling north in a 2005 silver Honda Accord at approximately 60 miles per hour on Twin County Road in Carnaervon Township, Lancaster County. Subscribe Now According to State Troopers, the 17-year-old lost control while trying to negotiate a left curve in the road, causing the Honda to his a dirt embankment on the east side of the roadway before crossing over the double yellow line and hitting several trash cans and trees on the west side of the road. Troopers say the vehicle continued down another embankment and hit more trees until it reached a final resting place 40 feet from the roadway. The 17-year-old driver sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene by the Lancaster County Coroner. PSP: Fleeing driver on US 22 nearly hits, pins Pennsylvania State Troopers
DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Two State Troopers were nearly struck and pinned by a fleeing driver in a Dauphin County parking lot, according to court documents. State Police out of Harrisburg say they saw Joseph Hoffman driving a black 2011 Toyota RAV4 at a high rate of speed on US 22 near the Jonestown Road intersection in West Hanover Township on April 25, around 8:42 a.m. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Troopers say they tried to pull Hoffman over, but he allegedly passed another vehicle and sped away. Hoffman then turned into the Skyline Family Restaurant parking lot and drove over the grassy median divider into the Comfort Inn & Suites parking lot. Court docs show he then tried to get back onto US 22 but backed up into a parked truck. Troopers pulled into the lot as Hoffman was reversing and got out to try to take him into custody. As they got to Hoffman's vehicle, State Police say he reversed and then accelerated into the State Police vehicle, causing damage to the front of it. According to court documents, one Trooper had to dive out of the way to avoid being hit by Hoffman, while the other Trooper was nearly pinned between Hoffman's RAV4 and the parked truck. Local flight nurse to fly with Blue Angels at Air Dot Show Central Pennsylvania Hoffman faces numerous felony charges of aggravated assault and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer. He also faces misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person and summary charges for traffic violations. He was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Hanif L. Johnson Sr. on Sunday, May 11, and he was placed in Dauphin County Prison with bail set at $10,000, court records show. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 27.
