Electric shock incident at Statesboro's Splash in the Boro
STATESBORO, Ga. (WJBF) – On Monday, May 26th several people at Splash in the Boro Water park in Statesboro reported feeling an electric shock in the wave pool.
Out of an abundance of caution, the wave pool was closed for the remainder of the day pending a professional safety assessment.
EMS evaluated five people and cleared everyone on scene; no individuals required trips to the hospital.
The Statesboro Fire Department (SFD) was dispatched to investigate a possible electrical current in the wave pool.
According to a press release, they were directed to the electrical rooms, where they disconnected the power supply and advised the maintenance supervisor to contact a licensed electrician for a comprehensive inspection and any necessary repairs.
On Monday, the facility contacted certified electricians and Georgia Power were both contacted for inspections.
Following a thorough investigation, both parties concluded that all electrical systems were operating within standard levels.
At this time, the wave pool will remain closed until further notice.
Water park management also advised guests that there is no concern for anyone who previous swam in the pool,a s this was not a waterborne incident.
