Carlisle dancer to perform at American rock band's Glasgow gig

A CARLISLE dancer is set to perform at a US rock band's upcoming gig in Glasgow. Amy McLuckie will perform in Glasgow as part of American rock band Steel Panther's gig at the O2 Academy on Monday, June 16. The comedic metal band from Los Angeles, California, boasts millions of streams, with their hit song 'Eyes of a Panther' sitting at nearly 35 million streams on Spotify. Steel Panther (Image: Jo Sainz) Amy, a passionate aerial dancer, is also the owner of a Carlisle-based dance studio, The Aerial Coven, which she opened in 2019. Ahead of her performance with Steel Panther, Amy spoke to the News & Star about her passion for all things aerial dancing. She said: "I took a lesson one day and was absolutely hooked. "Two years later, I decided to open a pole studio, and I absolutely love it. "I love teaching it, and I think it is really empowering. Amy McLuckie (Image: Supplied) "It is really fun, so it is work that is really enjoyable as well." Amy's performance alongside Steel Panther in Glasgow will also be her first-ever performance outside of her Carlisle dance studio, with the local business owner describing her nerves ahead of the gig. She said: "I saw that Steel Panther had opened up applications for pole dancers to go on stage with them, and I absolutely love the band. "I applied, and about a month later, I got an email that said that I had been selected for the Glasgow show, and I was absolutely shocked. (Image: Supplied) "I am so excited but I am quite nervous though. I'll be dancing to three songs whilst they're doing their set list. "I love performing, and I compete a lot because there are not many opportunities to perform, so it's nice that the first performance I will do will be on stage with a big band."
