Steelers RG Mason McCormick on rookie learning curve — ready for Year 2 breakout
Steelers RG Mason McCormick on rookie learning curve — ready for Year 2 breakout Mason McCormick's successful rookie season was one of the biggest surprises of 2024 — but the Steelers right guard is looking forward to what Year 2 has in store. McCormick — who was drafted by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft — explained to reporters on Day 5 of OTAs the improvements he's looking to make in his second season (courtesy of Steelers Live): "Last year, as a rookie, there's kind of a lot of thinking — 'How do I hit this block?' or 'How do I do this?'" McCormick explained. "I just want all of that stuff to become second nature so I can really fine-tune the little details and stuff like that — which, I feel like it has been. I haven't really forgot anything from last year. Through the offseason, I've really hit the ground running, and I feel like [the Steelers offensive line is] ready to take that step." McCormick will join fellow second-year Steelers starting offensive linemen RT Troy Fautanu and C Zach Frazier in helping Pittsburgh's offensive line finally come together in 2025. Steelers WR Roman Wilson has perfect four-word description of Pittsburgh's receiver room
Steelers WR Roman Wilson has perfect four-word description of Pittsburgh's receiver room The Steelers wide receiver room may not have the biggest names in 2025, but they want to succeed more than anyone — and rookie WR Roman Wilson knows this all too well. At Day 5 of OTAs, Wilson was asked to further explain what Steelers WR Robert Woods' "grimy" comments meant for the receiver room — and this was his simple but effective response (courtesy of Steelers Live): "Getting out the mud," Wilson said. "Somebody that wants it more than other people." The Steelers will truly depend on Wilson, Woods, Calvin Austin III and DK Metcalf to 'get out the mud' in 2025 — as the George Pickens trade left Pittsburgh with similar issues to those of the 2024 wide receiver woes. Another wide receiver who may fit this bill is former Jaguars WR Gabe Davis — who is set to visit Pittsburgh on Thursday. Steelers LB Cole Holcomb describes difficult injury process — ready to compete in 2025
Steelers LB Cole Holcomb describes difficult injury process — ready to compete in 2025 Steelers LB Cole Holcomb is finally healthy after suffering a devastating knee injury back in 2023. At Steelers OTAs on Tuesday, Holcomb explained how difficult it was being sidelined (courtesy of Steelers Live): "Yeah, it's hard — I'm a pretty impatient person. Definitely had some days where you just want to be out there and it's frustrating — but it's kind of just one of those take it one day at a time." Holcomb then touched on how the state of the linebacker room has changed since his injury — and how he fits into the group: "I got to know [Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson] pretty well last year. I tried to stay as involved as I could. Now, being able to come out here and play with those guys has been great. Just trying to get in where I fit in — love the competition. I love competing, so it's been great." If Holcomb can effectively rotate with Wilson and Queen on defense, the Steelers may very well have the best inside linebacker unit in the NFL. Steelers' massive TE shows newfound work ethic at OTAs — motivated by contract extension
Steelers' massive TE shows newfound work ethic at OTAs — motivated by contract extension Steelers TE Darnell Washington has been putting in extra work this offseason — and he's ready for his Year 3 breakout. At Steelers OTAs on Tuesday, Washington was asked if he could make more of an impact in the Steelers' passing attack this season — and this was his response (courtesy of Steelers Live): "That's one of the reasons why I want to start becoming more of a pro — than I was previous years," Washington explained. "My first two years, I really wasn't taking care of my body. I wasn't like rolling out. I wasn't getting massages. I would just come in, do the work, leave. Now I'm like — kind of want to stick around the [Steelers training] facility. Do a little bit more with the quarterback after practice, or do some more recovery." Washington explained that he's dropped some weight since adopting this newfound mindset — and even described a new extension as motivation: "Just improve year by year because after your third year is your fourth year — then everybody want a new contract. That's how I want to attack it, and just be the best version of myself." Washington is one of the most underrated offensive weapons at the Steelers' disposal — and this new work ethic could do wonders in his third year in Pittsburgh.
