Several killed in Austrian school shooting, police say
Austrian police responded Tuesday to a school shooting in Graz, the country's second-largest city. Several people were seriously injured or killed, Austrian state media ORF reported, citing the Interior Ministry. Police for the state of Steiermark, of which Graz is the capital, tweeted that shots had been heard inside the Bundes-oberstufenrealgymnasium Dreierschützengasse school in Graz and an operation was underway. They later added that there were several deaths. By 11:30 a.m., police said the situation was under control and that the school was evacuated and everyone there was taken to a safe meeting point. Austrian media added that the suspected gunman was found dead at the scene of the shooting. Local police revealed that an operation was underway in Dreierschützengasse street after the police department received reports of a shooting attack, DW added in its report. The operation started at 10 a.m. local time. Videos were shared on social media showing police cars heading to the scene of the shooting.
