The First Edition is available to order now, with deliveries set to begin in Q4 2025. Jeep has finally taken off the covers of its third-generation Compass, and it's a bold new look for one of the marque's most important vehicles. Based on the new Stellantis STLA medium platform, the 2026 Jeep Compass is the first in the range to truly embrace electrification, marking a pivotal (if not slightly belated) move towards progression. With over 2.5 million sales worldwide, Jeep is a brand that is desperate to maintain prestige, particularly as the EV market heats up. Over the past five years, the automaker has poured millions into research and development, focusing much of its attention on making the Compass future-proof. The resulting impact is an upgraded powertrain lineup that is far more geared towards hybrid and EV expansion. However, before we've even copped a glimpse of what is under the hood, it's worth taking a gander at the 2026 Jeep Compass design. 2026 Jeep Compass | Image: Stellantis 2026 Jeep Compass Design For this new model, Jeep has taken a more rugged approach, pulling design cues from its Avenger sibling while also staying true to the brand's off-road DNA. While the staple slot grille is there, the proportions have been squared off and reshaped to provide a clear 'family-design' influence, particularly on the larger models. Despite being one of the most compact vehicles manufactured from the STLA Medium Platform, the 2026 Compass is still longer than the earlier generation model at 4.55 metres, and that influence flows through almost every element. The extended wheelbase adds 55mm of additional legroom, a larger 34-litre front interior storage compartment, and an increased boot capacity of 45 litres, which increases it to 550L. Jeep also tapped another fan favourite for the exterior elements, introducing increased wheel sizes and slimmer Matrix LEDs that bear a striking resemblance to those seen on the larger Grand Cherokee. 2026 Jeep Compass | Image: Stellantis 2026 Jeep Compass | Image: Stellantis 2026 Jeep Compass | Image: Stellantis Interior On the inside, it is a similar story. The interior boasts far more technology than previous generations, including a 16-inch touchscreen that stretches all the way across to the passenger side, along with a 10-inch driver display. Jeep also claims it has packed in OTA updates, connected car technology and Level 2 autonomous driving with a heads-up display. In a statement announcing the 2026 Jeep Compass launch, Fabio Catone, head of Jeep Brand in Enlarged Europe, described the new vehicle as a step into the future. 'The new Jeep Compass boldly represents the brand's forward-thinking philosophy, highlighting our dedication to not only meeting today's market demands but also anticipating tomorrow's opportunities,' Catone said. 'This vehicle is the perfect expression of the Jeep ruggedness and performance, delivering state-of-the-art solutions while preserving our commitment to electrification and sustainability. Crafted for outdoor adventures yet perfect for everyday use, the new Jeep Compass stands as a powerful testament to our relentless pursuit of innovation and versatility, designed to meet the diverse needs of customers around the world.' 2026 Jeep Compass | Image: Stellantis 2026 Jeep Compass Powertrain Where things get interesting is in the powertrain choice, as all-wheel drive appears to be available exclusively on the electric iteration only. For lovers of the diesel offering, that may be a bitter pill to swallow, but it's hardly surprising given the market changes in recent years. Instead, Jeep has gone all-in on versatility, with the 2026 Compass offered in one of six options, including: 145 HP 48V Hybrid 195 HP Hybrid Plug-in 3 BEV versions (213hp in the front-wheel drive version up to a sizeable 375hp in the all-wheel drive form). According to Jeep, the 375 hp dual motor version has a powerful rear motor added, which gives an additional 49 kW of peak power and up to 232 Nm torque. Meanwhile, the range on offer is up to 650km, and that is substantial, while the charging speeds include a 160kW DC charger offering a 30-minute 20-80 per cent recharging time, plus there is an onboard charger with up to 22kW. For the EV versions especially, aero has been improved with details like active aero shutters and a flat underfloor. 2026 Jeep Compass First Edition | Image: Stellantis The automaker has also confirmed that a First Edition aimed at the European market will be available with either a 48V e-Hybrid with 145 hp or a BEV variant with 213 hp and 500km range. The First Edition would have 20-inch wheels, cloth/vinyl seats, a rear camera with front/rear sensors, and more. On the technical side of things, Jeep is adamant that even the front-wheel drive version is capable in the rough stuff thanks to a ground clearance of up to 200 mm, approach angle of 20°, breakover angle of 15° and departure angle of 26°. Selec-terrain will be standard on all versions and water adding capability is 450mm. The more potent all-wheel drive version, though, has 27 degrees of approach angle, 16 degrees of breakover, 31 degrees of departure angle, and even better ground clearance and water fording, plus Hill Descent Control as standard. 2026 Jeep Compass | Image: Stellantis Availability Available in six colours linked to 'natural landscapes', the new Compass will eventually come to Australia by the middle of next year, while European deliveries will start later this year. The new Compass will give Jeep a solid contender in the mainstream SUV space. For European fans, the First Edition is available to order now, with deliveries set to begin in Q4 2025.

In 2024, the brand sold 132,000 units across Europe—led by the success of the Avenger, which accounted for almost 80,000 units. Jeep's market presence continues to strengthen, with notable gains beyond Italy, where sales across the rest of Europe surged by nearly 10 percentage points in 2024 with the UK market tripling sales and key markets such as France and the Netherlands multiplying sales by 1.5 against 2023. The first months of 2025 confirm this positive trend with a market share of 1,1%. Fabio Catone, Head of Jeep Brand in Enlarged Europe, remarked: ' The new Jeep Compass boldly represents the brand's forward-thinking philosophy, highlighting our dedication to not only meeting today's market demands but also anticipating tomorrow's opportunities. Perfectly suited for outdoor adventures yet equally adept at navigating urban environments, this vehicle offers unmatched versatility, advanced technology, and a heightened level of safety. Its design has been meticulously crafted to deliver both enhanced performance and iconic style. True to the Jeep brand's legacy, the Iconic Jeep features such as the unmistakable seven-slot grille, trapezoidal wheel arches, and rugged cladding were thoughtfully integrated to honor the brand's heritage while ensuring the vehicle retains its off-road prowess and signature look. The new Jeep Compass has also been engineered with functionality and safety in mind; the addition of the Anti-scratch modular Jeep shield and reinforced bumpers provides enhanced protection for both urban and off-road environments. Additionally, to ensure optimal protection, the vehicle's radar has been repositioned to avoid damage in tight spaces or when encountering obstacles. New Compass is available in six colors that are linked to specific natural landscapes and can evoke emotions and particular images associated with each geographical region. The launch color will be Hawaii, a bright brilliant green inspired by the nuances of the tropical islands, the range varies from the Pacific (blue) to represent the vast expanses of the Pacific Ocean; the Antarctica (white) to symbolize the ice and snow of the far south of the planet; the Amazonia (brownish green) evoking the Amazon rainforest; the Yosemite (grey) emblematic of the towering cliffs and rock formations of the national park and Vulcano (black) calling to mind the isle of Vulcano in Sicily. The capability of the new Compass is extended across the range, including the front-wheel-drive version, which will also be 100% capable. With a ground clearance of up to 200 mm, approach angle of 20°, breakover angle of 15° and departure angle of 26° the new Compass is equipped to handle tough terrains with ease. Additionally, the vehicle's water fording depth of up to 470 mm highlights its ability to tackle the most challenging environments. Selec-terrain will be standard on all versions to support our customers in the most challenging situation as it will be the 360-degree protection already present on the Avenger. New suspension tuning with dedicated springs, dampers and antiroll bar are granting a good compromise between handling and comfort. And the all-wheel-drive versions will be even more capable thanks to special extra-functional design that ensures 27 degrees of approach angle, 16 degrees of breakover, 31 degrees of departure angle, and improved ground clearance and water fording. Hill descent control will be standard on the all-wheel drive versions. Beyond its off-road prowess, the Compass offers more interior space and remarkable versatility while remaining one of the most compact vehicles manufactured from STLA Medium Platform with only 4.55m total length. It now provides 55 mm of additional legroom, a larger 34-liter front interior storage compartment, and an increased boot capacity of 45 liters, reaching up to 550L. The 40/20/40 rear seat split, standard on all versions, allows for ultimate flexibility, making it as functional for passengers as it is for cargo. In the realm of technology, the new Compass is an all-inclusive value proposition. The new infotainment system offers a 10″ cluster and a 16″ radio, while connected services ensure that the vehicle will be always up-to-date, receiving over-the-air (OTA) updates throughout the lifecycle, and Level 2 autonomous driving will support our customers on a safe journey on longer trips or in congested urban areas. All this will be standard on the entire line-up. And the experience can be even improved with head-up display, Semi-automatic lane change, Matrix LED and Mobile Phone access. Novelties on Compass and forward-looking features, some of which are normally only available in the premium segments. To achieve this impressive 375 HP, Jeep introduced on the platform, exclusively for the brand, a new dedicated and more powerful rear electric motor that provides an additional 49 kW of peak power and up to 232 Nm torque. Coupling this with a 14:1 rear reducer, it translates into an impressive 3100Nm available at the rear wheels. This gives maximum traction in most challenging situations, with the ability to climb a 20% slope, even with zero traction on the front wheels. EV Charging is also up to the higher standard with a rapid 160kW DC solution offering a 30 minute 20-80% recharging time, and an onboard charger with up to 22kW. The BEV range up to 650km is another key attribute of powertrain offering, positioning the new Jeep Compass to be highly competitive even in the advanced stages of electrifications with an improved aerodynamic efficiency and without compromising the practicality and spaciousness of the vehicle. The CX has been improved by 10%, achieving a value of less than 0.3, introducing elements like: Active Grill Shutter directly integrated int the front bumper, Air duct on front and rear wheels, Sharp rear edges and a fully flat underbody design. I can't believe how close the new Citroen C5 Aircross is to the original concept
Usually when a car company takes the wraps off its shiny new concept, my first thought is 'the production version won't look anything like it'. Well, Citroen just proved me wrong with the new C5 Aircross. The second-gen crossover aimed firmly at family buyers almost exactly matches the original concept showcased at last year's Munich motor show. The beefy crossover sits on the Stellantis STLA Medium architecture, which also provides the basis for the Peugeot 3008 and Vauxhall's Grandland (to name just a few. Seriously, Stellantis is huge). However, the Citroen C5 Aircross looks and feels much more imposing. That's partly down to it being a bit larger than the outgoing model, but it's the dramatic styling that really sets the tone. Citroen has increased the wheelbase by 60mm, which is immediately apparent on the inside. This is a very roomy car, with oodles of space in the front and in the rear. The effect works even more impressively thanks to a remodelled interior layout, which Citroen fluffily refers to as the 'C-Zen Lounge'. Naturally the seating – as with any Citroen – is an obvious highlight, but the fit and finish of the interior is premium, quirky and cool, just as we like it from this legendary French brand. There's lots of tech on offer too, with the middle area of the dashboard being dominated by an expansive touchscreen infotainment panel that's very tempting to prod and poke. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard too. The dashboard layout looks particularly well executed and comes complete with a healthy array of features and functions that can be customised to suit individual needs. The 10in display and larger head-up display in front of the driver is nicely done too, while there's a big emphasis on voice control options this time out, including a dollop of AI from ChatGPT. This is a family-focused crossover so, as expected, space levels are better than ever. The Citroen C5 Aircross offers 651 litres of load space in the back. Knock down those sumptuous back seats and that rises to an impressive 1668 litres. In terms of powertrain, Citroen is placing a big emphasis on the hybrid models, with a mild and plug-in edition catering for different customer needs. The latter should be good for around 53 miles of electric-only range, making it very school-run friendly. Even more interesting is the all-electric C5 Aircross, which will be available with a 73kWh battery offering 323 miles of range. A bigger 97kWh battery option delivers up to 422 miles, meaning range anxiety is firmly pushed aside. It's too early to say what the official pricing will be, but those in the know suggest the EV should land at around the £40K mark and those hybrids potentially £5K or so less. The base level mild hybrid might come in at just over the £30K mark. That's a lot of comfort and range for relatively small beans, I think.
