Senior citizens go on pub crawl
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A lot of people celebrated St. Patrick's Day over the weekend, but a handful of Sioux Falls senior citizens from Touchmark at All Saints waited until today to get out of their rooms and go on a pub crawl. When it's Saint Patrick's Day, you just roll with the punches or in this case roll on a bus. Nine residents of Touchmark signed up to be on a pub crawl in downtown Sioux Falls. 81-year-old Craig Stember says age is nothing but a number. 'I like to go out and visit and I am sociable,' Stember said. While some are enjoying an ice-cold beer, Stember likes his drinks a little stiffer. Cimpl halts harvest operations in Yankton 'This is Jack Daniels on the rocks,' Stember said. Touchmark has been lining up these pub crawls every Saint Patrick's day for the past eight years. 'It's a wonderful way to connect, celebrate and welcome the arrival of spring it's also a great reminder of the vibrant lifestyle we embrace here at Touchmark every day,' Madison Szabo said. The pub crawl is just one of many activities they do to keep their residents feeling young. 'You ought to see our calendar; it's one thing after another, after another, after another,' 89-year-old Jack Gustafson said. 84-year-old Sharon Adams says she's been looking forward to this day for weeks and dressed up for the occasion. 'Well I think it's amazing that Touchmark would come and pick us up, we can have some drinks and they can take us home safely,' 84-year-old Sharon Adams said. Don: What's been the best part? Sharon: The beer, no doubt about it. Don: What would you be doing in you weren't doing this? Craig: I probably would be taking a nap. But the nap will have to wait, so it's back on the bus and onto the next stop.
