Penn State Behrend welcomes high school girls for Empower Her expo
Over 200 high school girls gathered at Penn State Behrend for an Empower Her summit. Girls were able to learn about their futures as they went through a day of workshops. Registration open for Step It Up Erie County fitness competition The Junior Achievement of Western PA lined up several speakers led by inspiring female executives. The regional president said this is a great opportunity to network. Erie police increasing presence for St. Patrick's Day weekend 'It's really important for them to have that adult interaction and really have an interacting with the professional that they normally have not had access to so they are able to ask those questions that have been in their minds that they didn't know who to ask but these are women executives who have on it for like 20 years,' said Patrice Matamoros, regional president of Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania. Erie brewery preparing for tariffs on aluminum
President Trump has also imposed a 25% tariff on all imported aluminum, a tough blow to the canning industry and breweries alike. From canned beers to kegs, the general manager of Voodoo Brewing Company in downtown Erie said the tariff will have a significant impact on their business. Erie Co. Council votes Tuesday night on usage of county Facebook account He said Voodoo gets most or all of its aluminum from Canada and they're looking for ways to adapt to potential price surges. Kyle Houser acknowledged price increases ultimately trickle down to the consumer and said they're doing everything they can to keep a consistent and affordable product. It's a huge deal for all of the craft brewers and every little change makes a huge difference when you look at how many cans and kegs that we go through,' he said.
