Emmerdale's Steph's future as actress announces pregnancy in sweet post
Emmerdale fans were left questioning whether Steph Milligan was pregnant after spotting actress Georgia Jay's baby bump in recent scenes
Eagle eyed Emmerdale fans were left questioning whether Steph Milligan the character, or Georgia Jay, the actress, was pregnant after spotting her baby bump on the ITV soap.
After weeks of speculation, Georgia announced her pregnancy in a sweet Instagram post, and fans were over the moon for the star.
Not ignoring the speculation from soap fans, Georgia shared a professional photo showcasing her growing baby bump, alongside the caption: "As you've probably guessed, I've got some news to share! I know some of you have been wondering if you've been seeing a little bump on screen lately… well, it's not your imagination... I'm having a baby! We've never been so excited and a little nervous all at once. Thank you for all the love and support."
Georgia's co-stars were quick to congratulate the star, as Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle wrote: "What?!!!!!!!" with Michelle Hardwick adding: "Beautiful Mama."
We now know actress Georgia is pregnant, but is her character Steph? At the time of writing, the character is not pregnant. However, she's been through a hard hitting storyline - with fans fearing she'd be leaving the soap.
Last month, fans feared the star would leave the soap after she was adamant that she wanted appearance-altering surgery on her face, including a nose job and a brow lift. It came after she found out that her biological father was her grandfather Anthony Fox, and that Anthony had raped her mother when she was a teenager.
Ever since she learned of what really happened, she's struggled to look at herself in the mirror without seeing Anthony's face. Calling herself "disgusting" and "a freak". Fans were concerned that the character would go ahead with the surgery, and would either have to leave the show or be recast.
However, the character didn't go ahead with the surgery in the end, after her parents, Ruby and Caleb Milligan burst in to disrupt the appointment before it could go ahead.
Steph was then notably absent from the soap, but during Monday's episode (June 2) her dad Caleb revealed that she was returning back home after spending time visiting her friend.
Now Georgia has announced her pregnancy, it's clear she'll be taking a step away from the soap in the upcoming months as she takes on maternity leave. However, it is not yet known how the character will take a break from the soap during this time.
