Dancing and dirt at Shreveport Green's Volunteer Day
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—Shreveport Green is calling all volunteers to roll up their sleeves and step into some boots for a morning of service and fun at the Urban Farm on Saturday
The event kicks off at 8:00 a.m. at 1034 Sprague Street. Volunteers will spend the morning planting, harvesting, and helping maintain the urban garden.
At 10:30 a.m., the vibe shifts from dirt to dance as Stephanie McCray leads a free line dancing session in the fruit orchard, no experience required. Organizers say all you need is enthusiasm and, if you have them, your favorite pair of boots.
The Urban Farm, an initiative by Shreveport Green, promotes healthy food access and community engagement through sustainable farming practices and education.
Urban Farm Director Shanetta Brown says the day is designed to blend community service with community spirit.
