Altoona jazzercise event raises money to fight women's heart disease
ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — Some local woman put their hearts into raising money to fight the number one killer of women — heart disease.
A jazzercise fundraiser to benefit the American Heart Association took place Sunday, March 30, at the Blair Dance Academy/Jazzercise building (2914 W. Chestnut Ave. in Altoona).
The event was spearheaded by Amy Van Kleunen, a nominee for the Heart Association's National Women of Impact campaign. It was instructed by Stephanie Strittmatter.
'So much we know about heart health has come from studies that were done on men and women have been underdiagnosed and under-treated for a long time,' Van Kleunen raised for the calorie-burning workouts will support heart health research and programs for women.
Just 25 minutes a day of brisk walking can increase hearth health and help prevent heart disease.
