Kentwood, Woodland Mall host Unity Walk for Black History Month
KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — The city of Kentwood and Woodland Mall marked Black History Month Saturday morning with its fourth annual Unity Walk.
Community leaders, including Kentwood Mayor Stephen Kepley, and members of the public gathered inside the mall for the walk. Attendees were encouraged to display signs calling for unity and understanding. After the walk, Kepley offered remarks and attendees enjoyed live music and snacks.
'I don't think we can ever do enough to remember and celebrate our community, whether it's Black, white, Hispanic, so diverse. It's just a time to honor one another and stand together with our Black brothers and sisters,' Kentwood Recreation coordinator Sherry Barnum said.
