Woman jailed over Leeds Harehills disorder

A woman has been jailed for 28 months after admitting taking part in street disorder in Leeds last Doherty, 34, of Ascott Terrace, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on Friday after earlier pleading guilty to violent was the seventh person to be given a custodial sentence after trouble flared in the Harehills area on 18 July, according to West Yorkshire Police.A total of 68 people had been arrested as part of a major investigation into the disorder, with 19 of those since charged with offences, a force spokesperson said. Speaking after the hearing, Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Steve Dodds said: "Our investigation into the appalling disorder in Harehills last summer continues at a pace, as demonstrated by the number of arrests our officers have made."Doherty admitted carrying out some serious offending on the evening of 18 July and we are glad she has been before the courts and convicted." Teenager sentenced to 20 months over Harehills disorder

A Leeds teenager has been sentenced to 20 months in a young offender institution after taking part in the violent disorder in the city last summer. Adi-Petronel Petrechiva, of Harehills Road, appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday. The 18-year-old had previously pleaded guilty to a violent disorder offence linked to the trouble which flared in the Harehills area on 18 July. West Yorkshire Police said he was the sixth person to be given a custodial sentence following the "disgraceful" scenes that night. Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Steve Dodds, said the force had made 57 arrests in connection with the trouble."We are determined to bring everyone involved in the Harehills disorder to justice and it is still not too late for anyone who has information which could assist our enquiries into the disorder last July to come forwards," he to highlights from West Yorkshire on BBC Sounds, catch up with the latest episode of Look North.
