2026 recruits who have been predicted to commit to Michigan football
Michigan football recruiting is heating up and it's set to heat up much more in about a month when the Wolverines start hosting official visitors to Ann Arbor. The maize and blue got a couple of commitments over the weekend in four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel and three-star edge rusher Tariq Boney, and that got us asking: who might be next? Advertisement Taking a look at the 2026 recruits who have 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for the Wolverines as of current, we note where Michigan appears to stand and which players could end up wearing a winged helmet when all is said and done. Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph's Prep three-star DL Alexander Haskell There hasn't been much discussion about Haskell and Michigan football but The Michigan Insider's Sam Webb did put in a prediction in mid-April indicating he'd become a Wolverine. Duke, Penn State, and Syracuse appear to be his other suitors. Denver (Colo.) Mullen three-star tight end Mason Bonner Michigan is in on a few tight ends and is looking to take more than one this cycle -- which is relatively usual. In fact, it wouldn't surprise if it took three, depending on the talent. 247Sports' Steve Lorenz put in this pick in mid-April. Minnesota, Nebraska, and Texas Tech appear to be the other contenders. Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day four-star interior offensive lineman Leo Delaney The former high school teammate of Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin just set a decision date of July 11 and dropped a top four of Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State, and Clemson. It appears to be a battle between the Wolverines and Vols with each school getting a prediction in the month of April. Billings (Mont.) West four-star tight end Matt Ludwig Perhaps the top tight end on the Wolverines' board this cycle, Ludwig comes from a very underscouted region of the country, and is yet a four-star -- much like Colston Loveland was. He has two predictions he'll end up in Ann Arbor -- one from a Huskers' writer in April and another from Steve Lorenz. Georgia, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Texas Tech appear to be the other contenders. Needham (Mass.) St. Sebastian's three-star offensive tackle Marky Walbridge The Wolverines can take some flyers on the outside this cycle with two five-stars having pledged in 2025. Michigan already has one lineman committed in Bear McWhorter, who's more of an interior player. Steve Lorenz put in this pick in March. Forney (Tx.) four-star running back Javian Osborne Michigan had appeared to be in the pole position for Osborne for nearly a year, but Notre Dame has surged and is considered the favorite. The Wolverines do appear to still lead (though there's no predictions as of yet) for five-star Savion Hiter, but there's still a lot of time left in that one. Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha four-star offensive tackle Malakai Lee Lee visited for the USC game last year and has been back (Grant Newsome has also been to Hawaii to see him). Perhaps the biggest priority lineman of this cycle, other sites have been putting in predictions for him to end up in Ann Arbor lately, but Steve Lorenz did back in Oct. 2024. Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and BYU all appear involved. On3 predictions On3 has a bit of a different system. While reporters can put in predictions, the system also gives percentages using AI to determine who might end up in the class. Gonzaga five-star EDGE Carter Meadows (40% - no predictions) Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day four-star IOL Leo Delaney (77.5% - 1 prediction) Torrance (Calif.) Liberty three-star LB Hudson Dunn (48.5% - no predictions) Richmond (Va.) Hermitage four-star S Andre Clarke (25.2% - no predictions) There was a prediction on 247Sports for Novi (Mich.) Catholic Central tight end Jack Janda made last June by Lorenz, but we've heard nothing of that recruitment at this time.
