Two suspects accused of armed robbery at Statesville hotel after Snapchat drug arrangement: Police
STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people were arrested Wednesday in connection to a reported armed robbery at a Statesville hotel from a planned meetup.
According to the Statesville Police Department, officers responded to the Red Roof Inn on East Broad Street at 5 p.m. May 14. Upon arrival, they were told a victim was robbed of money and other personal items at gunpoint, and the suspects fled behind the business.

Officers were able to track and apprehend one suspect, identified as 19-year-old Steven Michael Potts, of Statesville. A second suspect, a juvenile, was located and taken into custody a short time later near Safriet Road.
The investigation determined the suspects had allegedly arranged to meet the victim through the Snapchat app for a narcotics-related transaction. When the victim arrived, officers say the suspects committed the robbery.
A search warrant for the suspects' hotel room and vehicle, allegedly led to the discovery of a firearm, cash, and additional evidence connected to the robbery.
Steven Michael Potts has been charged with:
Armed Robbery,
Second Degree Kidnapping, and
Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.
He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and is being held without bond pending a first court appearance.
The juvenile suspect faces the same charges and was transported to the Alexander County Juvenile Detention Center under a secure custody order.
