DES MOINES, Iowa — Thursday night Roosevelt High School held its Rider Pride Night which showcased and fundraised for the school's Special Olympics and Best Buddies programs.
Steven Schappaugh, Roosevelt High School's Principal, said the event shows off the best of Roosevelt High School's community.
Iowa parents express concern as measles cases rise in U.S.
'These events where the community comes together and they see the beautiful diversity and all that our school has to offer. There's nothing like it outside of the metro. And so that's the most important part of tonight is really the benefits of the community, seeing our students on display these amazing programs. And what happens when students come together with the support of nurturing, caring adults for opportunities that are made available to them.'
During the event students in Best Buddies played a game of basketball and attendees were able to take part in a silent auction.
