Undrafted rookie already making plays at Chargers OTAs
The Chargers are still in the early stages of their roster evaluation process, as today marked the second week of organized team activities (OTAs). Nonetheless, young players are using this time to start catching the attention of the coaching staff.
It was undrafted free agent Stevo Klotz who raised eyebrows on Tuesday. According to team reporter Eric Smith, Taylor Heinicke hit him on a crossing route that turned into a 20-plus-yard gain down the left sideline.
Klotz is a fullback/tight end hybrid who caught a touchdown each of the past two years at Iowa State. Last month, Jim Harbaugh highlighted Klotz, saying that he believes he could be an 'above-average core special teams' player.
Klotz will have competition with Scott Matlock and Tucker Fisk for this specific role, but it's promising to hear that the former Cyclone is already making some noise.
