Meghann Fahy, portraying the character Devon in the hit series, opened up about her character's journey: "We watch Simone run desperately away from who she is and who she really wants to be seen as." Heartstopper to end with feature film
'Heartstopper' will end with a film. The beloved series has ran on Netflix for three seasons but the streaming service have confirmed there won't be a fourth series as instead the story will conclude in a feature-length movie. Netflix posted on X: ''Heartstopper' will return, bigger than ever. A 'Heartstopper' movie, our final chapter based on Alice Oseman's upcoming volume six, is coming!!!' Kit Connor and Joe Locke will return as Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring respectively, and also serve as executive producers, while 'Heartstopper' creator Alice Oseman has written the script for 'Still Alice' helmer Wash Westmoreland to direct from. Alice said in a statement: 'I am completely overjoyed that we will get to tell the end of the 'Heartstopper' story. 'I'm so grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this possible and to the incredible fans of Heartstopper for your patience and passion. I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion.' Filming is scheduled to begin this summer, with the storyline picking up where Season 3 left off in October and Nick and Charlie as in love as ever. However, a synopsis for the film teased: 'But, with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. "Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet.' It isn't yet confirmed who else will star in the movie, but Olivia Colman previously admitted she was "gutted" she was unable to return as Nick's mother Sarah Nelson for the third season of 'Heartstopper'. She told Forbes magazine: 'I couldn't do number three. I couldn't fit it in. I feel awful about that. I feel like I was part of one of the most beautiful things I've ever been part of.' Fans have been left gutted as she was a popular character. The 'Wonka' star didn't hesitate when it came to signing up for her role in the series. She told Variety: 'I said yes before I had read it and when I read it, I went, 'Oh, it's really important.' If any of my children experienced that, I'd want them to know that the world can be beautiful and accepting and loving.' And she was "incredibly proud" of Kit when he came out as bisexual after being trolled online. The former 'Crown' star admires the way the 21-year-old actor has conducted himself under public scrutiny, and she hit out at the "unfair" circumstances surrounding his confession. She told the publication: 'I am so proud of him, but I am not proud of how people bullied him. 'I think people should be allowed to have their own journey. But I'm incredibly proud of him as a young man to deal with all of that and be in the spotlight. It's unfair. But he's amazing. He's a very beautiful human being.'
