Amherst man arrested for allegedly stealing from Stop and Shop
HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Amherst was arrested for allegedly stealing from Stop and Shop in Hadley.
In a news release from the Hadley Police Department, on Friday, officers were called to Stop and Shop for a report of a repeat shoplifting suspect in the store, concealing merchandise. When officers arrived, the suspect was cooperating with members of the loss prevention at the store.

During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect, identified as 63-year-old Richard Carnute of Amherst, had a warrant for a prior shoplifting offense at the store for allegedly stealing nearly $400 in merchandise.
