What to Watch This Week: New movies and TV shows to stream from June 2 to 8
Several new shows and films are coming to streaming platforms from June 2 to 8. This includes suspense thrillers, dramas, documentaries and returning reality shows. Audiences will find new content across Hulu, Netflix, Peacock, E!, Criterion Channel, and Apple TV+.Presence, directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by David Koepp, arrives on Hulu this Tuesday. The film is told entirely from the view of a ghost living in a family's new home. It watches events unfold and uncovers a past tragedy while a new one develops. The film uses a floating camera to show the ghost's will debut Straw on Friday, June 6. The film stars Taraji P. Henson as a mother who is desperate for money for her daughter's medical needs. She decides to rob a bank. The movie also features Sherri Shepherd, Teyana Taylor and Madix returns as host of Love Island USA on Peacock this Tuesday. The last season was a big success and became a top reality show in 2024. The new season airs six nights a O'Neal stars in a new Netflix docuseries from Wednesday. It is called Power Moves with Shaquille O'Neal. The series shows his leadership at Reebok's basketball division. Allen Iverson joins him as vice president. Both athletes have strong ties to Reebok.A new show called Stick premieres Wednesday on Apple TV+. Owen Wilson plays a former pro golfer who is broke and divorced. He decides to coach a young player named Santi. The series shows their bond and journey toward new can stream Presence from Tuesday, June 4, exclusively on Hulu in the United series gives an inside look at Shaquille O'Neal's role in Reebok's basketball division with Allen Iverson.

Taraji P. Henson Talks New Ventures After Hollywood Treatment
Back in 2023, Taraji P. Henson memorably broke down in tears as she opened up about constantly fighting for equal pay in Hollywood. 'I'm just tired of working so hard, being gracious at what I do, [and] getting paid a fraction of the cost,' she said as she opened up about her treatment in Hollywood as a Black woman. 'I'm tired of hearing my sisters say the same thing over and over. You get tired.' Fast forward to today, and Taraji has opened up about the subject again during a recent talk at the Kering Women in Motion event at Cannes. After revealing that she recently took a month off of acting and relocated to Bali, Taraji recalled feeling 'discouraged' by her treatment in Hollywood. 'I was just frustrated and it was making me bitter, and I'm not a bitter person,' she said, per Variety. 'I made a promise to myself that if I ever got there, it's time to walk away. I'm not serving myself or the audience or the characters I play. Thank God I did that. I came back refreshed and with a new perspective.' Taraji went on to note that she'd spent years being 'graceful in getting paid less than.' 'Not anymore though!' she said, adding that when she returned from Bali, she focused on non-acting ventures — like her hair care brand, TPH — instead of 'relying on that check from Hollywood.' Terri J. Vaughn is ready for her political career, or so she thought, as the star of Tyler Perry's She the People. In her latest role, the actress brings to life Antoinette Dunkerson, who, after running a successful campaign for lieutenant governor, must figure out, 'how to thrive under a sexist and condescending governor, while attempting to keep her family in line now that they're all in the public eye.' The first eight episodes of the series are set to premiere on Netflix on May 22, 2025, with the second half due to be released on Aug. 14. Alongside Vaughn, the comedy stars Jo Marie Payton, Jade Novah, Drew Olivia Tillman, Tré Boyd, and Dyon Brooks. Tyler Perry's She the People is created by the acclaimed filmmaker who also serves as writer, director, and producer. Niya Palmer is co-creator of the series with Perry. Additionally, Palmer, former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, and Vaughn executive produce. Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland will also produce for Tyler Perry Studios. The series is one of several projects that Perry currently has in the works at the streamer. As the hit drama Beauty in Black continues to play out, both original series and new movies are set to come from the 55-year-old. Fans of Perry's work can also expect Madea's Destination Wedding, Straw starring Taraji P. Henson, and the faith-based film R&B later this year. Also, last month, the Louisiana native announced the Dream Collective program to help empower the next generation of filmmakers from marginalized communities.
