Police say a 12-year-old boy is assisting them with their investigations following the stabbing death of a 36-year-old man in Broken Hill last week.
Just before midnight on Thursday, June 5, emergency services were called to a home in the city's south for a welfare check.
Upon arrival, officers found a man with stab wounds to his neck.
Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man could not be revived.
Police said there was no ongoing threat to the community.

A 12-year-old boy is assisting with inquiries into the circumstances leading up to the death of the man, whose identify has not been released.
"Police intend to seek legal advice in relation to the matter, and a report will be prepared for the coroner," NSW Police said in a statement.
