Man charged with murder after shooting in Wagga Wagga
A man has been charged with murder after a shooting in southern New South Wales earlier this week.
Just before 3am on Monday emergency services were called to Connorton Avenue in the Wagga Wagga suburb of Ashmont following reports of a man being shot during an altercation.
The 37-year-old died at the scene.
Detectives commenced an investigation under Strike Force Cerventes with assistance from State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
At about 9:35am on Thursday detectives and specialist police arrested a 35-year-old man at a home on Lady Loch Crescent in Narrandera.
"That male was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and has been charged with murder and specially aggravated break and enter," Detective Inspector Brent Falkiner said.
"We have received a lot of information from the general public and we thank the public for the assistance."
Inspector Falkiner urged witnesses to come forward.
"We still appeal that if anyone has further information, footage, to please contact Wagga Wagga Police Station," he said.
The accused will face Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow.
