Mandeep Dhillon: Seraphina on 'MobLand' is a boss in every single aspect

Photo courtesy of Paramount+ NEW YORK, May 18 (UPI) -- CSI: Vegas, Doctor Who and After Life alum Mandeep Dhillon says Seraphina Harrigan, the character she plays on MobLand, has no trouble standing up to the formidable gangsters in her family. Created by Guy Ritchie and streaming Sundays on Paramount+, the British show follows the Harrigan organized crime clan, led by Seraphina's father Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and his wife Maeve (Helen Mirren). "She's the result of a one-night-stand her dad had with a stripper at Stringfellows," Dillon, 34, told UPI in a recent Zoom interview. "She's hated by Maeve, but it's also made her get a thick skin. She's a hustler. She's driven by power. She's driven by money, and she will get what she wants," the actress explained. "It's been such a joy to get inside of her head. She really is a boss in every single aspect. She's not afraid to tell people about themselves." This week's episode shows Seraphina returning home to her family in the Cotswalds after she was kidnapped by a rival gang alongside her half-brother Brendan (Daniel Betts) while on a "business trip" in Amsterdam. Although shaken up by her harrowing misadventure abroad -- Brendan is dismembered in front of Seraphina as his horrified parents watched via live-stream -- Seraphina finds comfort in the arms of her loving father and, surprisingly, the manipulative Maeve. "It really is tender. It's actually a beautiful relationship," Dhillon said of Seraphina and Conrad's connection. "Pierce is amazing as a human, so what a joy it is to be able to play his daughter on screen," she added. "Everyone is so scared of Conrad in the show, apart from Seraphina. Seraphina has no fear of her father. She knows that she's good and it sort of makes her feel invincible." Dhillon said this job was a cathartic experience since it allowed her to explore feelings she has about her own family. "I didn't grow up with a dad myself," she explained. "So, actually, it sort of weirdly healed a part of me, receiving a father's love through a character, which is beautiful how art can do that." Before she even tried out for the role, Dhillon said she went down a rabbit hole, watching gangster movies and TV shows. "I was famously one of those people all my life who never watched any gangster film ever and then suddenly I was watching Scarface and Goodfellas and The Godfather and Snatch, Sexy Beast, so by the time the audition came, weirdly, I was like, 'That's interesting, timely,'" she recalled. "So, I'd done it without really known I was doing it." The cast of MobLand also includes Tom Hardy, Joanne Froggatt, Paddy Considine and Lara Pulver. Samie Elishi breaks silence on dating Sam Thompson after couple confirm romance

Samie Elishi has opened up about her relationship with Sam Thompson, just weeks after the pair confirmed their romance with a steamy kiss. The former Made in Chelsea star, 32, split from his girlfriend of five years Zara McDermott, 28, earlier this year. As Zara has confirmed her romance with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, it seems that things have been going from strength to strength with Sam's love life as Samie, 25, has opened up about their romance. Speaking on the podcast Chloe Mediumship, Samie said: 'I've had gut feelings with guys before. I've had a couple of relationships where I've known it was never it. Like this is gonna come to an end, I'll have something telling me every day it's coming to an end, this isn't for you. 'You put it to the back of your mind and then you start noticing the chaos increase. It's like the universe saying I'm gonna blow you both up if you just do not separate. Then I'm like if I only listened all those months ago when I got that first message.' Chloe then asked her: 'Obviously, you don't have to talk about it too much, but the guy you're currently speaking to, do you have that gut feeling? Like do you think it's gonna be really good?' Coyly, Samie revealed: 'There's been no bad stuff at the minute, so yeah, I suppose it is all positive right now. It's early days.' In early May, Sam and Samie were caught kissing at Olivia Attwood's birthday bash in London. Sam was seen chatting with Samie throughout the night in the smoking area before they departed together to the after-party at Stringfellows. Sam and his new love interest left the venue at around 1am arm in arm, before kissing while waiting for their taxi to arrive. It appears in the next episode of his podcast, Staying Relevant which Sam co-hosts with Pete Wicks, Sam is set to speak more about the images of him packing on the PDA. A source also told The Sun that things are going well between Sami and Sam, but emphasised it's 'early days'. 'Sam found the split and its public fall-out very hard, but Samie has put a smile back on his face. 'She is a stunning girl and he's told a few pals about her. He seems excited.' The source added: 'Obviously it's early days, but clearly he has a thing for Love Islanders!' In a different episode of the Staying Relevant podcast, Sam revealed that he has gone on his first date since his split from Zara. More Trending He said at the time: 'I went on the first date that I've had since I've been single recently, and I was so nervous that I messaged Pete, and it was the sweetest thing ever, but Pete basically sent me a list of what I had to do.' Samie is best known for entering the Love Island villa as a bombshell in 2023 and being coupled up with Kai Fagan and Tom Clare. She and Tom reached the final of the show and left in third place, but amicably split not long after they left the villa. Got a story? Olivia Attwood dirty dances with Loose Women co-star Judi Love during wild boozy birthday bash at London strip club Stringfellows

Olivia Attwood looked to have the time of her life as she dirty danced with Judi Love at her boozy 34th birthday bash on Saturday night. The Love Island legend took to Instagram to share a video of her wild night as she pole danced at London strip club Stringfellows. Ever the party girl, Olivia was seen getting into the swing of things as she drank from a bottle of pink champagne before later spraying it across the room. The TV presenter, who hosted her party at Bacchanalia before moving to the strip club, showed off her head turning moves as she hit the dance floor with her Loose Women co-star. As Olivia crouched to the floor, Judi's jaw dropped with excitement as she danced along to the music. ITV star and comedian Judi, who looked incredible in a black satin minidress, also shimmied on the dancefloor and showed off some daring moves. Olivia looked every inch the birthday girl in a glitzy backless red mini dress, which showed off her slender legs and was teamed with a pair of towering heels. Her blonde locks were worn piled up on her head in a half-up, half-down style, while she added to the look with glamorous make-up and jewellery. She also packed on the PDA with her husband Bradley Dack, 31, who was wearing a grey zip-up jumper underneath his blazer. After downing a number of glasses of champagne, Olivia and friends headed to Stringfellows where she was seen running and jumping into the arms of her friends. She later ditched her shoes as she danced with pals on the stage around the strip club's pole. Olivia penned: 'One thing about my people - they know how to have a good time'. Celebrity guests at the party included her close pal Pete Wicks who attended with his friend and podcast co-host Sam Thompson. The two stars appeared to have brought dates to Olivia's soiree, after Love Islanders Samantha Kenny and Samie Elishi were pictured at the party amid dating rumours. She was seen in the video on her hands and knees flicking her blonde hair while on the stage at the strip club In recent weeks, Pete, 37, has been linked to Samantha, 27, while Sam, 32, is said to have been enjoying dates with Samie, 25. During the night Sam was photographed holding hands with Samie in a sweet, loved-up moment. The reality star, 32, and his new love interest, 25, confirmed the romance during the bash as they shared a kiss outside. Another sweet moment was captured by Samie's fellow Love Island star Gabby Allen as the pair made their way through the bash holding hands. Sam appeared to be having the time of his life at Olivia's party and was also seen in a Snapchat story in a conga line. Sam's new romance comes after it was revealed his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott, 28, was dating One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, 33. Other stars in attendance included longtime friend Georgia Harrison, 30, who was showing off her baby bump in a purple dress after recently revealing she was pregnant. She also was joined by former TOWIE co-star Nicole Bass, who cut a stylish figure in a bow-print vest top with a pair of black micro shorts. Her and Bradley's pal Ronnie Wood, who acted as best man at their wedding, was also there to celebrate the occasion. Olivia's guests were all treated to her latest obsession, POP MART toys, namely Labubu's which have become an increasing trend in recent weeks. The former Love Island star has made no secret of her love of the small cute toys, regularly sharing her new additions on her TikTok page.

Sam Thompson and Samie Elishi CONFIRM dating rumours as they're pictured sharing a steamy kiss on night out with pals

SAM Thompson and Samie Elishi have confirmed dating rumours after being pictured sharing a steamy kiss on a date night. The Sun revealed last week that I'm a Celeb winner Sam is moving on from his ex Zara McDermott after growing close to Samie. 12 12 12 And on Saturday night, looking very comfortable in each other's company, Sam and Samie posed for a photo, alongside Pete Wicks and Georgia Harrison, while attending Olivia Attwood's 34th birthday bash. That same night, outside of the glam party, Sam and Samie couldn't keep their hands off each other, as they shared a kiss in the street. Sam, 32, was seen placing his arms on Samie's shoulders as they stood outside, with the Love Island beauty dressed in a stunning brown co-ord and leopard print heels. She popped a black jacket over her look to keep warm, and Sam affectionately drew her closer, before leaning in for a kiss. Elsewhere, the glamorous pair were seen linking arms while walking down the street, with both Sam and Samie looking in great spirits. They were seen chatting away together all night, in the smoking area and at the party, before hopping in a cab together to continue the night at Stringfellows where they reunited with Sam's podcast co-host Pete Wicks. Sam couldn't keep his hands off brunette beauty Samie, as he was seen with an arm around her waist, or guiding her into the venue. The lavish bash for Olivia's birthday took place at Bacchanalia Mayfair in London, and was attended by a whole host of famous faces. It comes after Sam revealed he went on his first date since his split and said: "Things are really nice at the moment, I feel like I'm happy." It's the first time Sam has been pictured with a romantic interest, since splitting from Zara in January this year. Speaking exclusively to The Sun recently, Samie said: "I'm quite a relationship person, so a boyfriend would be nice eventually, no one wants to be alone. "But I love being single at the same time, I love my girls... I love a bit of both. I feel like I am a relationship person, so naturally." Just like Sam, the brunette bombshell, 25, admitted she was also in a good place when it comes to her dating life. She said: "I enjoy life in general right now, I am really happy." 12 12 Samie continued: "I think I said on Love Island, the guy I'm looking for has to be ambitious, kind and look after himself, like go to the gym." The reality beauty, who dated Love Island co-star Tom Clare and former Towie star Harry Lee, also took a little swipe at her exes. She said: "My red flags haven't changed - I don't like arrogance, I hate that. Weirdly I don't have any more at the minute. Nothing like my past relationships - opposite of my exes basically." Speaking about whether she's open to dating more, Samie teased: "We'll see what happens." Samie, who is said to have grown close to former Made In Chelsea's Sam, also ruled out another appearance on Love Island for now. She said: "Right now, I would probably say no, but never say never because anything could change." It comes after Sam admitted his "nerves" after he went on his first date recently since his split - and even arrived 40 minutes early. He said: "I was so nervous that I messaged Pete and he sent me a list of things I need to do. It's my first date since I've been single. I'm on my way to the date, I've called Pete and he's said 'don't overthink it, just enjoy it.' "'Do I wait for her inside or is that overthinking it? He went 'yep, that's overthinking it exactly, go inside, get yourself a drink and chill, staying outside like a weirdo on the street. Text her and ask her what she'd like to drink, so it's sat on the table waiting for her'. "'I then replied saying 'such a good idea' and Pete said 'look her in the eye and say she looks stunning, it's the basics'." Pete said on their podcast Staying Relevant: "I then got the phone call post date and it sounds like you handled it very well, very well." Sam admitted he's still "terrified" to date but said: "There are so many things Pete gave me in that snippet of advice, he literally gave me a play by play." He added: "I've never been so nervous for those kind of events. It's fun when you know she hasn't recoiled and when it's actually going okay. "The first part when she walks in, I was on the phone to our producer and the lady in question walked in and I was like 'she's beautiful', she heard me say that and then I hung the phone up." Pete added: "Sam's in his f****** dating era, that's why he's always dressed so well and looks so good." Sam proudly admitted he's reached the "goal" for his glow up following his "tough" split from Zara. He said: "It was a really tough time then, I'd really let myself go, I've got myself to a place where I feel I'm happy and I'm comfortable in my own skin again." Pete then asked fans if there was anyone out there that would like to go on a "double date" with him and his new love interest. During the same episode, Sam said: "I feel like I'm ready to get out there, I think I'm at a stage now where I feel confident enough that I can start approaching females. "I just feel good, things are nice, things are really nice at the moment, I feel like I'm happy." Meanwhile, Sam's documentary-maker ex Zara has moved on with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, and they've been spotted packing on the PDA while over in the US. The couple - whose relationship is going from strength to strength - were spotted on a romantic stroll in Malibu. Looking happy and relaxed in each other's company, Zara and Louis wore casual clothes to head to Soho Beach House where they enjoyed a late lunch by the ocean. The twosome looked deep in conversation as they shared a laugh and sweetly walked hand in hand together. A source said: 'Louis and Zara are exclusive and aren't seeing anyone else. 'Louis is totally smitten with Zara and she feels the same about him.' 12 12 12

ITV Loose Women's Linda Robson 'emotional' over Pauline Quirke health update

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Linda Robson has shared a touching moment, revealing she felt "really emotional" upon hearing an update about her friend and former co-star Pauline Quirke's battle with dementia. Pauline's husband Steve Sheen made the announcement earlier this year that the 61 year old would be retiring from the limelight, following her dementia diagnosis in 2021. Linda, who worked with Pauline on 'Birds of a Feather', spoke about how Charlie Quirke, Pauline's son, updated her on his mum's condition. Despite experiencing "down days", Pauline had shown signs of recognition by recently asking for Linda, which came as a surprise given her difficulty with recognising loved ones. On Loose Women: The Podcast, Linda expressed: "Charlie rang me and just said she is doing really, really well at the moment. Sometimes she has down days but at the moment she is quite up about everything. "He said they got really, really excited when she said, 'Here, where's my mate Linda Robson?' So I got quite emotional when he told me that as well," reports the Mirror. Back in February, Maurice Gran, who co-wrote 'Birds of a Feather', discussed the progression of Pauline's condition, sharing the saddening news that she was starting to have trouble recognising family members. He noted: "Since the diagnosis, her condition has gathered pace. "She's still only 65 so your heart goes out to her. Initially, she felt she was beginning to lose her grip. Now, we understand she struggles to identify members of her own family." Linda, aged 67, reflected on their deep connection, praising Pauline as an "amazing actress" and her "best friend". She reminisced warmly: "Amazing things have happened to us. "When Birds of a Feather first came out, we started getting invited to everything. We got given VIP tickets to Stringfellows, and all these different places, we couldn't believe our luck." Starring alongside Lesley Joseph, the careers of Pauline and Linda soared thanks to their roles in Birds of a Feather from 1989 to 1998. The show even made a return for two Christmas specials after its initial run. However, Linda has confirmed that there are no plans for the much-loved sitcom to make a return. She revealed: "No, it's not going to come back. Because of Pauline, she's not going to work again now." The Loose Women panellist expressed her sorrow over Pauline's condition following the announcement in January. On Instagram, she wrote: "For the past three years, I've been in close contact with her husband, Steve, and have spent time with breaks my heart to see her endure such a terrible illness." Pauline, recognised for her roles in ITV's Broadchurch, Emmerdale, and the BBC's The Sculptress, was awarded an MBE for her service to charity, contributions to the entertainment industry, and her involvement with youth through her Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA), which has educated over 15,000 students. Steve shared a moving statement about his wife Pauline's retirement from the world of show business, disclosing: "It is with a heavy heart that I announce my wife Pauline's decision to step back from all professional and commercial duties due to her diagnosis of dementia in 2021. Pauline has been an inspiration through her work in the film and TV industry, her charity endeavours and as the founder of the very successful Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts." He went on to commend her lasting contribution: "Her talent, dedication and vision have touched countless lives, and will continue to do so through the legacy of her work and through PQA where her vision and guidance has facilitated many young people's progression and interest in the arts, and enhanced their self-confidence."
