The Happy Hollow Hootenanny returns to Nelsonville
NELSONVILLE — Stuart's Opera House is proud to present the 3rd Annual Happy Hollow Hootenanny, taking place Sept. 25–28, 2025, at the Snow Fork Event Center in Nelsonville, Ohio. The Happy Hollow Hootenanny is a weekend-long celebration of Central Appalachian music, art, and culture, offering hands-on workshops, community square dances, concerts under the stars and late-night jam sessions in the hills of Southeastern Ohio. The event invites participants of all ages and experience levels to connect through learning, playing, dancing and creating together. Lauded traditional fiddle player John Harrod, who has been playing for over 60 years, called the event 'one of the best, most perfect music weekends I ever experienced. Perfect setting, perfect size crowd, good mixes in all the classes, and absolute masters for the evening concerts.' Workshops with master artists take place each morning and afternoon, with live performances during lunch and plenty of space for jamming between sessions. Evenings feature concerts and square dances, with music continuing around the community campfire into the night. The weekend concludes with the Bluegrass Brunch at Eclipse Company Store on Sunday, September 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Volunteer opportunities are available for those who'd like to contribute to the event. One 4-hour shift earns a Weekend Pass; two shifts cover camping as well. Roles include admissions, hospitality, parking and event setup. The full lineup of instructors, performers, and workshop offerings will be announced soon. Visit for tickets, volunteer information and updates.
