Praise for Cannock fireman who saved football fan's life

Natchitoches suspect arrested with narcotics, firearms and stolen gun
DISCLAIMER: All persons are innocent until proven guilty. NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — On Wednesday, at approximately 11:50 a.m. Natchitoches Parish officers conducted a traffic stop, which led to the arrest of a convicted felon. They found illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, a stolen firearm, and U.S. currency, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright. Deputies stopped the driver for a traffic violation, and when they said they smelled a 'strong marijuana smoke odor.' Casson admitted that he had recently smoked marijuana. Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office (NPSO) deputies reported the driver, 43-year-old Nicholas J. Casson, was a convicted felon with a history of narcotics and weapons charges. NPSO Deputy C. Halliburton made the arrest. NPSO says they discovered and seized: 5 grams of suspected marijuana Brass knuckles A loaded handgun, reported stolen from Rapides Parish. Multiple bags of suspected crack cocaine and powder cocaine Oxycodone pills Digital scale, cigar rollers, and drug packaging materials $773.00 in small denominations Two cell phones Sheriff's office dealing with rash of ATV thefts in Natchitoches NPSO says Casson was charged with: Improper Use of Turn Signals Possession of Marijuana Possession of Oxycodone (LA RS 40:967C) Two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Narcotics Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS Possession of a Stolen Firearm Second or Subsequent Narcotics Offense He was placed under arrest without incident, transported, and booked into LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center. Tournament fishermen save elderly man from drowning, says Natchitoches Sheriff
NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office commends the heroic actions of two Rapides Parish men whose quick thinking saved an elderly man's life. According to a social media post, Sheriff Stuart Wright says Brock Newcomb, 32, and Tyler Dauzat, 35, were fishing in a tournament on the Cane River on February 8, when they came around a bend and saw a car in the river. Wright says an 80-year-old man was inside the 2018 Honda Accord, which had veered off the road on La—Hwy 494 near the Bermuda community. The vehicle traveled down an embankment and plunged into the Cane River. As the car was sinking, the two men pulled the 80-year-old from the vehicle. More Local News The post went on to read that they took him to the Shell Beach boat launch for medical aid. Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Cane River Patrol, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS, La. Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and the NPSO Dive Team responded to the scene. The elderly man is recovering at a hospital in Lafayette. 'What Brock and Tyler did was nothing short of heroic. They risked their own safety to help a stranger in need, and without their intervention, the outcome could have been much worse,' said Sheriff Wright, in a statement.
