Staycation Spotlight: Bear hugs and beach fun at Centara Mirage Beach Resort
Dubai may have a reputation as the ultimate party destination, but it's not just for the grown-ups. While adults have a world of entertainment options, there's one resort that guarantees a child's dream getaway. Centara Mirage Beach Resort has taken things up a notch with their latest collaboration, bringing the beloved Build-A-Bear experience to life in their very own themed suites. Located on the Dubai Islands waterfront, Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai is a family-friendly resort featuring a blend of Thai and Arabian influences. From the moment you drive in, the colourful elephant statues set the tone for the fun-filled adventure that lies ahead. Step inside the lobby, and you'll immediately feel the energy and excitement. Kids are sprawled across the cosy couches, some happily unsupervised, yet the homely, living-room-style vibe makes it feel perfectly safe. Others dash around with inflatables as the parents sip their coffee in peace. It's a heartwarming scene that reassures you that this resort is built for families. After a seamless check-in, handled effortlessly by the warm and friendly staff, we are escorted to our Build-A-Bear Junior Suite. Our tiny companion eagerly takes charge of unlocking the door, unveiling the wonderland within. The moment you step in, you're greeted by an explosion of Build-A-Bear's signature colours. Royal blue dominates the walls, accented with stripes of colour that make the space pop. To the left, a cosy bunk bed awaits, complete with a backlit bear figure that almost feels like he's standing guard, ready to tuck the kids in each night. Opposite the bunk bed, an open wardrobe provides ample storage for a family's weekend essentials. A small dining table is set up with welcoming treats, including an elephant-shaped cookie — which our little guest wasted no time devouring before getting distracted by the bear-shaped mirror on the wall. The king-size bed, dressed in white linens, shines within the vibrant room, and on top of it sits a bear skin, waiting to be brought to life at the Build-A-Bear workshop downstairs. Adding to the charm — and the highlight of the room — a life-sized plush bear lounges on the couch, practically begging for a cuddle — and a selfie. The suite also features a TV, a console that doubles as a study table, and a bathroom with his-and-hers vanities, a bathtub, and a private toilet area, all neatly packed into a functional yet stylish space. While the Build-A-Bear Suite is a highlight, Centara Mirage Beach Resort offers an incredible range of accommodation options with its 607 units, including rooms, and junior and two-bedroom suites. Dining is another standout experience here. From authentic Thai cuisine at Suan Bua, Argentinian charcoal grills at Uno Mas, and beachfront bites at Sands, there's something for every palate. The rooftop lounge at Sheesh, serving shisha and a bountiful buffet, is perfect for dinners, while the Mirage Family Lounge, exclusive to Junior Suite and above guests, offers snacks throughout the day and a dedicated indoor kids' play area. The resort also has a fitness centre, the Spa Cenvaree for adults and the Candy Spa for kids — because self-care is important at any age. There's an on-site Build-A-Bear Workshop, allowing kids to create their very own plush companion and a Camp Safari Kids' Club, offering supervised fun.
