Jaipur: Families of candidates, who had cleared Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination 2021, held a protest at Dussehra Ground in Adarsh Nagar Friday, urging the state govt not to cancel the recruitment.
The protesters said honest candidates who cleared the exam on merit should not be penalised due to the actions of a few.
The protesters raised concerns that recent demands by Opposition leaders to cancel the exam were "unreasonable" and risked jeopardising the future of candidates who cleared the exam through hard work and integrity.
One of the protesters, Deva Ram Naian pointed out that while the SOG investigation into the recruitment is ongoing and around 50 candidates were dismissed for irregularities, a large number of those selected were law-abiding, deserving candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The protesters said that among the selected are meritorious students, single women, ex-servicemen, and candidates from SC/ST and TSP areas, many of whom left other govt jobs to join the police force.
Protesters said cancelling the entire exam would harm those currently undergoing training and those who not only passed the rigorous process but also declined other opportunities to serve in the police.
They also contested the claim that 8 lakh candidates would face injustice if the recruitment is cancelled, stating that only 4.25 lakh actually appeared for the exam while 3.75 lakh did not.
