14 Pakistani soldiers killed in twin Baloch Liberation Army attacks

At least 14 Pakistani army personnel were killed in two separate attacks carried out by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in Balochistan's Bolan and Kech regions, underscoring the intensifying insurgency in the troubled province. In the first operation, the BLA's Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) launched a remote-controlled IED attack targeting a military convoy in the Shorkand area of Mach, Bolan district. The powerful explosion reportedly killed all 12 soldiers aboard, including Special Operations Commander Tariq Imran and Subedar Umar Farooq. The military vehicle was completely destroyed in the blast. In a separate incident later the same day, BLA fighters struck a Bomb Disposal Squad of the Pakistani Army in the Kulag Tigran area of Kech district. A remote-controlled IED was detonated around 2:40 p.m. while the squad was conducting a clearance operation, resulting in the death of two personnel. BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch issued a statement taking responsibility for both attacks and lambasted the Pakistani army, labelling it a mercenary force. "The hired killers who call the Baloch Liberation Army a foreign proxy should know that the Pakistani army itself is a mercenary armed gang that thrives on Chinese capital and Papa Jones," he said. "The meaning of the army's uniform shifts -- sometimes guarding ports, guarding corridors, serving the satisfaction of lenders." He further stated, "An army that determines its direction according to the will of changing masters in every era is not a national army, but a commercial one. The attacks on this mercenary occupying army by the freedom fighters of Baloch land will continue with greater intensity." The latest strikes underscore the persistent and deep-rooted conflict in Balochistan, where separatist groups have long accused the Pakistani state of marginalisation, economic exploitation, and systemic human rights violations. Despite the region's abundant natural resources, local communities continue to face poverty, underdevelopment, and political exclusion, with benefits allegedly funnelled to the federal government and foreign investors, particularly China. The Pakistani military's heavy deployment in Balochistan is perceived by many locals not as a protective force, but as a suppressive presence, fuelling resentment and sustaining the insurgency. The disconnect between Baloch nationalist aspirations and Islamabad's policies remains a key source of instability in the region. In a similar high-profile incident in March, the BLA hijacked a train carrying over 400 passengers in Balochistan's Kacchi district, further highlighting the group's operational capability and reach. Security forces in Pakistan have increasingly come under fire from separatist factions like the BLA, who often target personnel originating from Punjab and other provinces, accusing them of occupying Baloch lands. The provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continue to be among the most volatile in the country, witnessing a surge in attacks on military and paramilitary forces. Pakistan, on its part, maintains that groups such as the BLA receive support from across the border in Afghanistan. Islamabad has accused the Taliban regime of providing shelter, funding, and logistical support to anti-Pakistan elements, enabling them to conduct cross-border terrorism and spread unrest within Pakistan's borders.

Another Attack On Pakistan After Ops Sindoor: BLAs Twin Strike Kills 14 Soldiers In Bolan, Kech

Hours after India's Operation Sindoor targeting 9 terror camps in Pakistan, the Pakistani Army has suffered yet another loss as its 14 soldiers were killed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The BLA has also released a video of the attack. This comes as a shocker for Pakistan amid the Bloch protests. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) took credit for two separate assaults that led to the deaths of 14 Pakistani military personnel in the regions of Bolan and Kech. In one of the attacks, the BLA's Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) used a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) to target a military convoy vehicle in the Shorkand area of Mach, Bolan. The explosion reportedly killed all 12 soldiers inside the vehicle, among them Special Operations Commander Tariq Imran and Subedar Umar Farooq. The blast completely destroyed the vehicle. In another operation, BLA fighters targeted a Bomb Disposal Squad of the Pakistani Army in the Kulag Tigran area of Kech. The remote-controlled IED detonated around 2:40 PM yesterday while the unit was conducting a clearance mission. Two personnel were killed in the attack. According to Jeeyand Baloch, spokesperson for the Baloch Liberation Army, the hired killers who call the Baloch Liberation Army a foreign proxy should know that the Pakistani army itself is a mercenary armed gang that thrives on Chinese capital and Papa Jones. The meaning of the army's uniform shifts--sometimes guarding ports, guarding corridors, serving the satisfaction of lenders. In this region, separatist groups have long demanded independence, citing political marginalisation, human rights abuses, and exploitation of natural resources by the Pakistani state. These groups argue that the region's vast mineral wealth benefits the central government and foreign investors, while local communities remain impoverished and underdeveloped. The Pakistani military's presence and operations in the region are viewed by many as acts of occupation rather than national defence. As a result, resentment continues to grow, fueling further resistance and deepening the divide between Baloch nationalists and the federal authorities.

7 soldiers martyred in terror attack by 'Indian proxy'

Seven servicemen were martyred when terrorists belonging to an India-sponsored outlawed Baloch terrorist group detonated a homemade bomb in Kachhi district of Balochistan, the military said on Tuesday. "On 6 May 2025, terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, [the] so-called 'Baloch Liberation Army' targeted a security forces' vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the general area Mach, Kachhi District," the military's media wing, the ISPR, said in a statement. "Resultantly, seven brave sons of soil embraced Shahadat." The martyrs have been identified by the ISPR as 42-year-old Subedar Umar Farooq, resident of Karachi; 28-year-old Naik Asif Khan, resident of Karak district; 28-year-old Naik Mashkoor Ali, resident of Orakzai district; 26-yeard-old Sepoy Tariq Nawaz, resident of Lakki Marwat district; 28-yeard-old Sepoy Wajid Ahmed Faiz, resident of Bagh district; 22-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Asim, resident of Karak district; and 28-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Kashif Khan, resident of Kohat district. "Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorist present in the area," the ISPR said, adding that perpetrators of this henious and cowardly act will be brought to justice. "The security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan," the military's media wing further stated. "Such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve." The ISPR stated that the "nefarious designs of India and its proxies operating on Pakistani soil will be defeated by the valiant security forces, LEAs and the brave nation of Pakistan, InshaAllah." Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack and paid tribute to the martyred soldiers. In a statement, the prime minister offered heartfelt prayers for the elevation of the martyred soldiers ranks in the hereafter and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. "The entire nation salutes the martyrs who laid down their lives for the defence of Pakistan," the PM stated, emphasizing that these sacrifices will not go in vain. He reaffirmed that Pakistan's valiant armed forces are always ready to thwart the evil designs of the enemy. "Such cowardly acts cannot shake our resolve in the war against terrorism," he asserted. The prime minister reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to continue the fight until the complete eradication of terrorism from the country. Civil and military officials have repeatedly said that India has been fomenting terrorism in Balochistan as part of its attempts to destablise Pakistan and that the Baloch separatist terrorist groups, especially the BLA, are being bankrolled, armed, and trained by New Delhi. In 2016, an Indian intelligence operative Kalbushan Jadav was arrested in Balochistan in a complex operation who later admitted in a video confession that he had been involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan and elsewhere in Pakistan. Late last month, the Pakistan diplomatic mission to the United Nations said that Islamabad had "credible evidence" proving that the Jaffar Express train attack was "externally sponsored by its regional adversaries". The Jaffar Express was hijacked on March 11 by BLA terrorists in which dozens of passengers were killed. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan was more specific when he told a news briefing that intercepted communications revealed that India was involved in the brazen attack through "handlers and ring leaders" based in Afghanistan. Pakistan has seen a surge in terrorist violence since the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan in August 2021. Pakistani officials believe that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, an outlawed umbrella of terrorist groups responsible for much of the bloodshed in the country, has developed a symbiotic relationship with the BLA and other terrorist groups to sow chaos. This has been corroborated by the fact that Pakistan ranked 10th on the Global Terrorism Index released by the Global Terrorism Database in 2022, but climbed to the second place in the 2025 index, showing the sharp deterioration of security situation in the country. On April 29, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry shared with the media what he called "irrefutable evidence", including intercepted audio recording, of Indian-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan. He said that Indian army officers were operating a terror network, providing IEDs, explosives, and funds to militants. "This irrefutable evidence is just one small part of India's state-sponsored terrorism," he added.

The martyred personnel have been identified as Subedar Umar Farooq (42, Karachi), Naik Asif Khan (28, Karak), Naik Mashkoor Ali (28, Orakzai), Sepoy Tariq Nawaz (26, Lakki Marwat), Sepoy Wajid Ahmed Faiz (28, Bagh), Sepoy Muhammad Asim (22, Karak), and Sepoy Muhammad Kashif Khan (28, Kohat). Following the attack, a sanitisation operation was launched in the area to eliminate any remaining threats. The military reaffirmed its commitment to bring the perpetrators of this heinous and cowardly act to justice. 'Security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan,' the ISPR stated, adding that the sacrifices of the martyrs would further strengthen national resolve against terrorism.
