19-year-old girl student arrested for posting ‘Pakistan Zindabad' on Instagram
The Pune city police arrested a 19-year-old girl student for allegedly posting a comment ending with 'Pakistan Zindabad' on her Instagram account.
Police constable Subhash Jarande lodged the FIR in the case at Kondhwa police station on Friday. Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajkumar Shinde confirmed that the accused woman has been arrested and further investigation is on.
Police have booked the accused, who is learnt to be studying in a Pune college, under sections 152 (Acts endangering sovereignty, unity and integrity of India), 196 (promoting enmity between different groups), 197 (imputations or assertions prejudicial to national integration), 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace), 353 (statements that cause public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the FIR, while taking a review of the activities in the light of ongoing action of the Indian armed Forces against Pakistan, police found an objectionable social media post allegedly circulated by the accused.
Police then arrested the student, who is a resident of Kausarbaug in Kondhwa. Meanwhile, activists of the 'Sakal Hindu Samaj' staged a protest demanding strong action against the accused woman for the alleged objectionable post.
