Erie Restaurant Week has most successful year yet

Erie Restaurant Week 2025 had its most successful week since its inception. That's according to VisitErie which released stats from the 10-day promotional event this week. Erie Community Foundation celebrates 90 years serving the community Erie Restaurant Week ran from January 17-26 with local restaurants offering unique specials. There was an increase in participating restaurants from 49 to 63 this year. There were also more specials sold and a 79% increase in total sales from those specials. Erie Restaurant Week not only shines a spotlight on the region's culinary diversity, it also supports restaurants during a time of year that business is traditionally slow. Jersey Mike's Subs Month of Giving returning this March 'You know that snowstorm over Thanksgiving weekend really took a toll on the restaurants so the timing of restaurant week couldn't have been better. It really boosted their business. We heard back from a lot of different resturant owners that they were just thrilled with the results,' said Chris Temple, director of communications for VisitErie. Temple said restaurant owners reported not only seeing a lot of repeat customers but also a lot of new customers which is the goal of restaurant week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Campaign launched to rebuild Mystic Mountain barn lost in fire

One month after fire destroyed a barn at Mystic Mountain Training Center, a donation campaign is underway to replace what was lost. Center leadership hopes people will contribute what they can so they can continue their horse program at this summer's annual camp. Jersey Mike's Subs Month of Giving returning this March 'We showed up and there was nothing so it was completely gone,' said Marie Olczak, assistant director of Mystic Mountain Training Center. It was January 26 when an electrical fire ripped through the barn of the Mystic Mountain Training Center in Cambridge Springs. 'It was used for storing 10 horses and hay and all of the tack and equipment that we use for the horse program,' Olczak said. Fortunately, the 10 horses were outside when the fire broke out but their saddles and all their equipment were destroyed. PA senator advocating for open primaries for independents Volunteers built makeshift stalls in the event center and ground has already been broken on a new barn. Insurance is covering the exterior structure but the center is looking for donations to cover the interior contents. 'We need and additional $45,000 over what the insurance company was providing. We've raised about 15 of that so we still have about 30,000 to go,' Olczak said. If donations don't come through, the center won't be able to have the horse program for their annual three-week summer camp. Erie County Council to sue County Executive Davis again over budget vetoes 'The main draw I think is the horses so I think a lot of the campers come here for the horses and they love the horses,' Maddie Maze, a camp volunteer. 'If you love the outdoors, care about kids, families, animals at all, we need help,' Olczak went on to say. The center is 100% volunteer-run. Donations can be made on Mystic Mountain Training Center's website here. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
