Holiday cottage in Cromer up for tourism award

A cottage in Cromer that was once a schoolmaster's house has been nominated for an award. Jerry and Andrea Foulkes are the proud owners of the North Cottage Cromer after buying it in 2018 and have been listing the property for the past six years. What was once a schoolmaster's house in 1872 was transformed into a six-bedroom private house just a four-minute walk from Cromer Pier. North Cottage Cromer has made the final three of the Suffolk and Norfolk Tourism Awards 2025 (Image: Jerry Foulkes) The cottage is up against The Suffolk Escape and East Ruston Cottages in the Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year category at the Suffolk and Norfolk Tourism Awards 2025. Mr Foulkes said: ''It's really gratifying if you're providing something and people go to great lengths to tell everybody what it is that they really liked about it. ''It's a lovely compliment, whether we win or not.'' READ MORE: The cottage has received nearly 100 five-star reviews across its two booking platforms and Airbnb listed it in the top 5pc of the most-loved homes in the world. Ahead of the awards ceremony on March 6 at Norwich Castle, the judges were welcomed to the holiday home. ''The judges came and stayed with their family, we didn't roll out the red carpet we just did what we always do when we greet our guests,'' Mr Foulkes added. The couple claims they set themselves apart from their competitors by always meeting their guests in person and offering recommendations for the area.
