Lethbridge taxi driver charged with sexual assault, unlawfully being in a dwelling

A Lethbridge taxi driver is accused of sexually assaulting a woman and unlawfully entering her home.
Police in the southern Alberta city say a 50-year-old woman reported, 'After being driven home in a taxi, she was sexually assaulted by the driver before exiting the cab.'
It's alleged the taxi driver called and returned to the home multiple times later that same day—June 19.
Police say the woman also reported, 'After a previous ride from the same driver, he offered to help carry her groceries, but instead of leaving them at her door, he entered her home without permission and proceeded to use her washroom before leaving.'
Police charged 35-year-old Sujeepan Sathiyananthan with sexual assault and unlawfully being in a dwelling.
He's scheduled to appear in court in Lethbridge on July 8.
In the meantime, he's not in custody—he was released under order not to have contact with the woman.
