SAI, Lucknow, to hold its first men's wrestling camp from May 1
Lucknow: After a gap of over two years, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Lucknow, is set to witness renewed activity with the arrival of
international wrestlers
.
For the first time in the history of SAI, Lucknow, a
men's wrestling camp
is scheduled from May 1 to June 30.

A total of 80 elite men's wrestlers and 22 support staff, including coaches, will attend the camp in preparation for the
Senior World Championship 2025
to be held in Croatia from Sept 13-21.
Both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers will take part in the camp, which has been allotted to SAI, Lucknow under the
Target Olympic Podium Scheme
(TOPS). Previously, the men's wrestling camp was held at Sonipat.
Wrestlers Deepak Punia, Sujeet, Vishal Kaliraman, Sagar, Sunil Kumar and others are expected to be the main attraction in this camp.
Jagminder Singh (freestyle) and Hargovind Sandhu (Greco-Roman) will be present as chief coaches.
Earlier, SAI, Lucknow, hosted a women's wrestling camp from 2011-2022.
Speaking to TOI, regional director, SAI, Atma Prakash said, "After more than two years, the centre has received an opportunity to host a major camp at our National Centre of Excellence (NCOE). This is the first time a men's wrestling camp will be scheduled at SAI, Lucknow centre."
"We have completed all arrangements and facilities which will be used, and our hospitality is ready to host this iconic camp. Our infrastructure is already maintained. This camp will boost the morale of thousands of aspiring wrestlers in UP," he said.
