T'puram: A Kanyakumari native's arrest for possessing a fake Schengen visa has left investigators puzzled, as they struggle to identify the fraudsters behind the scam. Sujin S, 38, of Manjalumoodu, was arrested on May 20 after being deported from Sharjah.

The case is particularly complex as Sujin had verified the visa's authenticity with the Slovakian embassy before traveling. He paid Rs 7 lakh to an agency in Angamaly after his brother responded to an online advertisement. The visa appeared genuine enough to pass initial scrutiny.
Despite being charged under various Sections of the Immigration Act and BNS for forgery and cheating, evidence suggests Sujin was actually a victim. The fraudsters, operating from Kalamassery in Eranakulam, remain untraceable with their phones switched-off and no physical office.
Police continue their investigation, hoping for a breakthrough in identifying the perpetrators. TNN
