Five men arrested over viral Dataran Merdeka brawl
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have remanded five men in connection with a viral video of a fight in Dataran Merdeka. Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said the suspects, aged between 17 and 23, were detained following an investigation under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons. "All five suspects are currently under remand until June 5 to assist in further investigations," he said in a statement. Sulizmie said police view the incident seriously as it poses a threat to public order and safety. He also urged the public not to get involved in any unlawful activities and to channel any information related to the case to the district police headquarters at 03-26002222, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-21159999 or the nearest police station. Earlier, it was reported that police were tracking down the suspects. This comes after a 23-second video of the incident went viral, showing several motorcyclists exchanging blows in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building at Dataran Merdeka.

The incident occurred at 10:53 PM last night (29 April) at Razak City Residence in Jalan Pudu, Kuala Lumpur. In a viral video, the victim landed on a white Suzuki Swift, causing severe damage to the vehicle due to the massive impact. He was later covered with a black cloth after being pronounced dead at the scene. According to CCTV footage, the young man left an apartment on the 38th floor of Block A and went to the stairwell on the 39th floor. Police later found many glass fragments at that location, believing this to be where he fell. The victim's body was sent to a nearby hospital for an autopsy. According to the victim's brother's statement, the deceased was single and showed no signs of depression or problems before the incident. He had no known illnesses, though he was described as introverted and reluctant to share his feelings with others. The victim lived with a roommate, who will be called in to give a statement to assist with the police investigation.
