18 May 2025 13:57 ABU DHABI (WAM) His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, attended a lunch banquet hosted by Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President and Chairman of the Camel Racing Federation, in Al Wathba, Abu event was attended by a number of prominent camel owners from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.H.H. exchanged cordial conversations with the attendees, focusing on the importance of camel racing and the role of the annual concluding festival, 'Al Wathba Final 2025,' in strengthening the stature of this traditional festival is considered one of the region's most prominent events, consistently achieving success across various levels.H.H. also toured the new 8-kilometre camel racing track in Al Wathba, which was inaugurated in conjunction with the start of the Al Wathba Final 2025. The track was completed in just 60 days, under the direct supervision of H.H., marking a qualitative leap that opens new horizons for the sport of camel racing.H.H. praised the infrastructure of the new track, emphasising that the growth and spread of camel racing are a result of the continued support and patronage of the wise leadership. This has made it one of the most prominent traditional sports, highly regarded by heritage reception featured traditional performances and folk songs presented by heritage troupes, celebrating the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin vibrant cultural display reflected national pride in the country's rich heritage and conveyed a spirit of welcome and appreciation.

UAE Unanimously Re-Elected President of Asian Camel Racing Federation

The Asian Camel Racing Federation (ACRF) reaffirmed its strong ties with the UAE and ushered in a new leadership term during its General Assembly held today in Abu Dhabi, where 15 member federations convened to chart the future of the sport across Asia. In a show of appreciation, the assembly extended deep gratitude to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and senior Emirati leaders for their continued support of camel racing. Special thanks were also offered to Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Camel Racing Federation, for his hospitality. Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi was unanimously re-elected as ACRF President for a second term, spanning May 2025 to May 2029. Prince Sultan bin Saud bin Abdullah Al Saud and Sheikh Saeed Al Ghafli were elected as First and Second Vice Presidents, respectively. Four new Executive Office members were confirmed: Ali Mohammed Bakhit Al Aqilat, Ali bin Mohammed Al Fadhel Al Marri, Haider Khan Abbas Lahri, and Batardeni Chandmani, the Women's Representative. A major highlight was the approval of the inaugural Asian Camel Racing Championship, set to take place in Abu Dhabi. The event will be led by Hamad Al Shamsi, who will head the championship's Executive Committee. The Federation also unveiled a redesigned logo featuring camels with both human and robotic jockeys. The assembly commended efforts to include camel racing in the 2025 Asian Games in Bahrain and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, reflecting the sport's growing profile. Members also praised the UAE Federation for covering the cost of all upcoming events.
