MEIL's Icomm unveils arms mfg facility in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: City-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), a construction engineering company said that one of its companies, Icomm Tele Ltd, a comprehensive solution provider for the defence sector has partnered with an entity of EDGE Group, UAE-based Caracal, a small arms manufacturer, for setting up small arms manufacturing facility at Icomm's integrated engineering facility in Hyderabad. At the local manufacturing hub, inaugurated on Monday a portfolio of advanced weapons will be manufactured here under a Technology Transfer (ToT) agreement with Caracal. The weapons that will be manufactured here include, CAR 816 close-quarters battle rifle, CAR 817 assault rifle, CSR 338 bolt-action sniper rifle, CSR 308 bolt-action sniper rifle, CSR 50 bolt-action anti-materiel sniper rifle, CMP9 submachine gun, Caracal EF and Caracal F GEN II combat pistols. Sumanth Paturu, Managing Director, Icomm Tele Ltd, said: 'We are not just making in India, we are making for India and for the world, with precision and purpose. This facility strengthens India's role as a trusted global defence production hub. This facility is also a cornerstone in India's Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India journey, blending global technology with Indian manufacturing excellence.' Caracal, a leading small arms manufacturer from the UAE and an entity within EDGE Group, in collaboration with Icomm Tele Limited, a group company of Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), today (April 21) inaugurated a top-class small arms manufacturing facility at its integrated engineering facility in Hyderabad. This exclusive facility will serve as a local manufacturing hub for a comprehensive portfolio of advanced weapons under a historic Technology Transfer (ToT) agreement with Caracal, marking a landmark milestone in UAE–India defence collaboration. Under this initiative, the facility will produce: *The mission-proven CAR 816 close-quarters battle rifle, chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO *The highly-reliable CAR 817 assault rifle, chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO *The lightweight CSR 338 bolt-action sniper rifle, chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum *The lightweight CSR 308 bolt-action sniper rifle, chambered in .308 Winchester *The highly-accurate CSR 50 bolt-action anti-materiel sniper rifle, chambered in 12.7x99mm NATO *The modern CMP9 submachine gun, chambered in 9x19mm *The versatile Caracal EF and Caracal F GEN II combat pistols, chambered in 9x19mm These next-generation weapons will serve the critical needs of: Indian Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Special Forces, State Police Forces, and SPG, and also cater to global export requirements of Caracal. Megha arm, CARACAL open small arms manufacturing facility in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd group company, ICOMM Tele Ltd, in collaboration with UAE-based small arms manufacturer CARACAL , which is part of EDGE Group, has kicked off a small arms manufacturing facility at ICOMM's integrated engineering facility in Hyderabad. The exclusive facility has been set up as part of a transfer of technology (ToT) between CARACAL and ICOMM and marks the first ever ToT for defence articles from UAE to India. The new facility will serve as a local manufacturing hub for advanced weapons under a technology transfer agreement with the UAE-based player and will produce CAR 816 close-quarters battle rifle, CAR817 assault rifle, as well as CSR338, CSR 308, and CSR 50 bolt-action sniper rifles. The facility will also make CMP9 submachine gun and Caracal EF and Caracal F Gen II combat pistols. The arms manufactured will cater to the Indian armed forces , central armed police forces (CAPFs), special forces, state police forces, and SPG, while also catering to the global export requirements of CARACAL. ICOMM Tele Ltd managing director Sumanth Paturu said an investment of 200 crore was committed for the facility that covers infrastructure, technology transfer, assembly lines, and the upcoming underground shooting range. Small arms factory set up by UAE's Caracal with Megha Group firm ICOMM opened
A small arms manufacturing facility set up in Hyderabad by UAE's Caracal in collaboration with Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) group company ICOMM Tele was inaugurated on Monday. Located at ICOMM's integrated engineering facility, it will serve as a local manufacturing hub for a comprehensive portfolio of advanced weapons under a technology transfer agreement with Caracal, which is an entity of the advanced technology and defence group EDGE. The agreement is a milestone in UAE–India defence collaboration and a boost to the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission, MEIL said in a release. CAR 816 close-quarters battle rifle, CAR 817 assault rifle; lightweight CSR 338 bolt-action sniper rifle; lightweight CSR 308 bolt-action sniper rifle; CSR 50 bolt-action anti-materiel sniper rifle; modern CMP9 submachine gun and Caracal EF and Caracal F GEN II combat pistols will be manufactured at the facility.
