Fireworks, comedy and hot air balloons: 7 things to do this weekend in the Peoria area

June is full of activities. Here are seven events you might want to check out in the Peoria area this weekend. The Dragon's Fire Balloon Fest will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 27, and 5 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Avanti's Event Center, 3401 Griffin Ave., Pekin. Marvel at nearly a dozen hot air balloons as they float into the sky before gently returning to the ground. This community event will also feature live music by Capt. Quirk on Friday evening and the Matt Miller Band on Saturday evening, plus food trucks and beverages. Comedians frequently featured on the hit stand-up comedy podcast "Kill Tony" will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the Prairie Home Alliance Theater at the Peoria Civic Center.
