Spring is here and many Americans already have their eyes on set on summer vacations, time in the sun, and longer stretches of daylight. We here at POWDER are holding onto every last drop of spring skiing before we concede to summer's heat, but the Farmers' Almanac's recently released 2025 Summer Weather Forecast caught our attention this accuracy of the Farmers' Almanac is up for debate, something that POWDER's Ian Greenwood covered in a previous article, but the outlet's predictions for summer of 2025 are alarming, at least for this skier who is adverse to temperatures above 80 degrees to keep up with the best stories and photos in skiing? Subscribe to the new Powder To The People newsletter for weekly Farmers' Almanac is using words like: broiling, sultry, sizzling, and 'brutally humid' to summarize summer from coast to coast. Furthermore, the outlet is predicting that, "long-time high temperature records may be broken this year."Check out the full forecast map below. The Farmers' Almanac goes on to explain that while the "Far West" will experience a dry summer with below-average precipitation, the rest of the country should see "near-average" is of concern for westerners that live in areas prone to wildfires, especially California. The state's snowpack has bounced back recently thanks to a particularly snowy month of March, but most areas are still reporting below-average snowpack and total moisture. Combining low snowpack with an excessively hot summer could be the perfect storm for an intense wildfire season in states like California, Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon. Here's hoping that's not the Farmers' Almanac is predicting a wetter-than-normal summer for the Southern Plains through the Gulf Coast of Florida. The added heat and moisture could lead to an active hurricane season for this region.
