Lopez was reportedly seen driving 'at a high rate of speed' in the Catnip Hill Road area, pulled to the shoulder, and sped away. According to NPD, the officer followed Lopez to document the vehicle's license plate.
When the two passed into Fayette County, the officer reportedly turned around and ended the pursuit. But Nicholasville police said that Lopez followed. As he passed the officer, he allegedly shot at the police cruiser, hitting the front driver-side tire and disabling the vehicle.
Lopez reportedly fled into Fayette County and was located by Lexington police using 'numerous resources,' including Flock cameras.
