Aerial performances, fireworks, laser shows and other activities planned for carnival on May 18
The entire NTR Marg area near the Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad will assume a festive look coming Sunday (May 18, 2025) reminiscent of the 'Sunday-Funday' events. As part of the Miss World competition, a carnival is being planned on the stretch between the Rajiv Gandhi Statue and Indira Gandhi Rotary at the start of the Necklace Road, for which the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has called bids from event management firms. The area will come alive with shopping and food stalls, games for children, carnival themed decoration, lighting, laser shows, performances, photo booths, selfie options and fire works, the tender document revealed. The event will be relayed live through LED screens installed at 10 locations. Special attractions include teams carrying national flag on both sides of the road, branded t-shirts, aerial performances, overhead amusement and carnival acts, and three stages where live performances will be given with anchoring. Fire works will light the sky from four locations. The usual fare, as mentioned in the document, includes stilt walkers, jugglers, magicians, cartoon characters, clowns, and Indian dance form artistes.

Sunday-Funday to be back in Hyderabad on May 18
Sunday-Funday would be back in Hyderabad. The carnival-style event, which used to be looked forward to by families in the city, is scheduled to be held at Tank Bund on May 18, as per the revised itinerary of the Miss World 2025 contest released on Saturday (May 3). Besides, Telangana's history and growth story is planned to be projected on the Telangana secretariat. The programmes are scheduled from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. When the Sunday-Funday was held earlier, Tank Bund road was closed for vehicles. It was last held over two years ago. The space was used to set up stalls and for people to stroll without worrying about vehicular traffic. Musical performances, fireworks, folk arts and other events were organised. Fountain show was held at Hussainsagar.
