Army Chief reviews operational preparedness in the Pargwal sector of Jammu
Jammu, May 31 (UNI) Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday reviewed the operational preparedness and lauded the role of ex-servicemen in Operation Sindoor during his visit to the Pargwal sector of Jammu. Jammu-based Defence spokesman Lt Col Suneel Bartwal here said, "COAS General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed operational preparedness in J&K's Paragwal Sector and visited the Tiger Division where he commended troops for their outstanding performance in Operation Sindoor". He stressed the importance of staying agile and vigilant in response to evolving security dynamics. The Army Chief also praised BSF's close operational integration with the Indian Army and lauded the bravery of Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari and her team for defending forward posts in the Akhnoor Sector. Army Chief visits forward posts in Sunderbani sector of J&K
Jammu, May 30 (UNI) The Chief of Army Staff, Genera lUpendra Dwivedi on Friday visited forward areas and posts along the Sunderbani sector in Jammu and Kashmir to assess the operational readiness of the units and formations in the region. Jammu based defence spokesman, Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said that during the visit, the COAS was briefed by Formation Commanders on the prevailing security scenario and the operational dynamics along the Line of Control, providing a comprehensive overview of the current strategic environment. While interacting with the troops, the COAS applauded their exemplary performance in Operation Sindoor, and commended all ranks for their professionalism, dedication, and steadfastness. He emphasised the critical importance of remaining agile and responsive to the constantly evolving security landscape, reiterating the need for continuous vigilance, operational preparedness, and institutional resilience, said the defence spokesman. Army neutralises 42 unexploded Pak shells in Poonch
Army neutralises 42 unexploded Pak shells JAMMU: Indian Army, in close coordination with J&K police, successfully neutralised 42 unexploded Pakistani shells in the areas of Jhullas, Salotri, Dharati, and Salani in Poonch district on Sunday. These shells were part of a Pakistani barrage targeting civilian areas in Poonch following India's strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK during Operation Sindoor . Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said, 'These shells, remnants of recent cross-border shelling , posed a serious threat to the lives and safety of local residents. The operation was carried out with utmost precision, adhering to all standard safety protocols to eliminate any risk to civilian life or property.' On Saturday, Army's bomb disposal squads also destroyed an unexploded mortar shell in a controlled explosion near Regal border outpost in Samba district, in addition to neutralising several mortar shells in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.

42 unexploded Pak shells destroyed in J&K's Poonch
The Army and the Jammu & Kashmir Police Sunday carried out a 'controlled operation' to safely destroy 42 unexploded Pakistani shells in the border district of Poonch. These unexploded shells were destroyed in border areas of Jhullas, Salotri, Dharati and Salani, said a statement issued Sunday by the Defence Public Relations Officer, Lt Colonel Suneel Bartwal. 'These shells, remnants of recent cross-border shelling, posed a serious threat to the lives and safety of local residents,' he said, adding that the operation was carried out with 'utmost precision, adhering to all standard safety protocols to prevent any risk to civilian life or property'. Bomb disposal teams from the Army, in coordination with police, ensured the complete neutralisation of all explosive remnants, the statement said. Army engineers have launched a sweeping clearance operation across border districts, defusing over 80 unexploded shells in the past five days — including 6 in Pargwal, 19 in Rajouri, 42 in Poonch, and 12 along the IB. Meanwhile, Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar Sunday visited the Mendhar subdivision to take stock of the situation in areas affected by the cross-border shelling. He promised swift relief and compensation measures. Kumar was accompanied by Poonch Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal and other senior district administration officers. The Divisional Commissioner inspected several affected locations and spoke with residents. He also visited the residence of the family where a woman lost her life due to the shelling.

The calls are being made by an Indian WhatsApp number, 7340921702. 'Alert: PIO calls to journalists and civilians. Indian WhatsApp number: 7340921702 is being used by Pakistani intelligence operatives (PIO), pretending as Indian defence officials, to call journalists and civilians to acquire information about the ongoing Operation Sindoor is in progress. Please don't fall for such attempts,' defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said. During Indo-Pak hostilities in the past as well, Pakistan applies all tools in Jammu and Kashmir to extract information from journalists and people posing as defence officials. The adversary also laid honey traps on social sites in the past.
