Rain damages over 200km length of power lines in Marathwada

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Recent rainfall and strong winds damaged high-tension and low-tension electrical lines measuring 216km across Marathwada. The region's eight districts reported 5,960 bent electricity poles, while 194 double pole (DP) switches were damaged. Official data indicates that 102 transformers across Marathwada ceased functioning due to severe weather conditions. Sunil Jadhav, the deputy chief public relations officer for Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) in Marathwada, said on Saturday the state power utility's field personnel were working intensively to restore the affected infrastructure. "Around 3,138 electricity poles were erected again across the region along with power cables. The damaged DPs and non-functional transformers were also repaired and made functional again in the majority of places," he said. Jadhav said all personnel, including senior officials, employees, staff members and contract workers, were involved in rebuilding the MSEDCL infrastructure. "The supply was restored in many areas, while some areas were in the dark until Saturday morning. Concerted efforts are being made to ensure the power supply is restored in all areas," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like One of the Most Successful Investors of All Time, Warren Buffett, Recommends: 5 Books for Turning... Additionally, a new yellow alert issued for numerous areas of Marathwada has heightened vigilance among MSEDCL workers. The meteorological office predicts thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rainfall in the region, potentially accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph.
