Lottery player turns $10 ticket into life-changing prize in Florida. Here's where
A man stopped into a convenience store at a Florida gas station and bought a $10 scratch-off lottery ticket.
Then he hit the jackpot.
Joel Roman won a $2 million top prize in the $2,000,000 100X Cashword game, the Florida Lottery announced April 16.
Roman, of Hillsborough County, bought his ticket at a local Sunoco Food Mart in Ruskin, officials said.
He beat the 1-in-3,792,743 odds to win one of eight top prizes of $2 million in the game, which now has no more top prizes left.
The 42-year-old headed up to Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee to claim his windfall as a lump sum of $1,280,000.
The Sunoco received a $4,000 bonus for selling the lucky ticket, lottery officials said.
Ruskin is about a 20-mile drive south from downtown Tampa.
