Police say a 61-year-old man was driving a Suzuki sedan that crashed into a tree at Callemonda Rd and Mary Valley Rd in Brooloo - a small town in the Gympie region - shortly before 2pm on Monday. A man travelling in the front passenger seat and a woman in the back seat of the vehicle both died at the scene. The driver was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious injuries. After further investigation by detectives, the 61-year-old man was arrested. He remains in hospital under guard, and police say he is assisting detectives with their ongoing investigation. No charges have been laid.
