[UPDATED] Jun Hao upsets Jonatan to advance to last eight in Singapore
KUALA LUMPUR: Leong Jun Hao is in the mood for some giant-killing.
After toppling Indonesia's world No. 5 Jonatan Christie 21-16, 21-19 in the second round on Thursday, the world No. 25 Malaysian aims to beat Thailand's world No. 2 Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the quarter-finals.
Jun Hao proved once again he has what it takes to beat world class players.
He also defeated Jonatan in the last four of the Super 500 Kumamoto Masters in Japan last November.
But Kunlavut looks potent. Winner of the recent Asian Championships and Thailand Open, he thrashed China's world No. 33 Wang Zheng Xing 21-8, 21-17 in the second round in Singapore
However, Jun Hao will be quietly confident as he had beaten the Thai world champion three times in five meetings.
