Jeep Quietly Gives Us Our First Good Look at the 2026 Recon EV
The production debut of the highly anticipated Jeep Recon EV is around the corner, and to highlight its upcoming new electric off-roader, Stellantis has just added a new page to the brand's website dedicated to the SUV. Unlike previous concept images, these new photos highlight a revised pre-production machine, complete with the styling and many features we can expect to see when it lands on dealer lots. Here's what we've learned from the new website.
The Jeep Recon EV, which made a cameo in the brand's Harrison Ford-starring Super BOwl ad, will arrive as an electric alternative to the brand-defining Wrangler lineup, packing a strong focus on off-road capability. The SUV is underpinned by the STLA Large platform, also shared with the Jeep Wagoneer S models. Like that 4x4, expect a dual-motor powertrain to bring loads of traction and power. In the electric Wagoneer, the Jeep motors are good for 600 hp and 617 lb-ft; output could vary in the new model line, but that sort of torque should help make the Recon quite a rock-crawler.
The STLA Large platform supports both 400- and 800-volt electric architecture, though we have no word yet as to which the Recon will employ. We do know the SUV will forgo Jeep's formidable solid-axle setup for independent suspension all around, however.
Changes to the Recon seen here versus the concept version are minor, but suggest Jeep is reworking some of its branding choices. The concept's blue tow hooks, shared with the current 4Xe lineup, have been swapped out for more traditional red units. The "Moab" graphics have also been removed from this particular model, though that trim is still slated to join the lineup.
While the automaker hasn't shared specific timing for the sales debut of the Recon EV, the truck is slated to hit dealers later this year. That said, Recon production is reportedly slated to kick off at the automaker's Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico on February 24. That means the automaker should hopefully have time to build up some stock and iron out any issues before these EVs start popping up on your local trails.
