Lector Mascarenhas, Dempo's new GS, sets top goal for the club

Lector Mascarenhas will be based at the Dempo Academy in Old Goa Panaji: Dempo Sports Club have confirmed the appointment of Lector Mascarenhas as their new general secretary. A former international, Lector played for Dempo between 1985 and 1989, before moving to Customs & Central Excise. He was the assistant commissioner, Central Goods and Service Tax at the Margao divisional office at the time of his retirement in 2021. 'It feels great to be back at Dempo,' said Lector, a member of the Goa squad that won the Santosh Trophy in 1984. 'I am honoured and privileged to be appointed as general secretary. At Dempo, I played my best football. After so many years I am back here.' Lector was also part of the India squad for Super Soccer matches against the visiting Sao Paolo FC from Brazil in 1984 and of Dempo, Shrinivas Dempo, welcomed Lector back to the club. 'Lector is a multifaceted person and his vast experience as a top-class football player as well as his administrative experience will undoubtedly help to raise the standard of the DSC Academy, the Pro-league and I-league teams,' said Shrinivas. Disciplined and organised, Lector is not new to football administration, having served as general secretary at the Goa Football Association (GFA) in 2022-23, after Caitano Fernandes was elected as the president. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch online với TMGM TMGM Đăng ký Undo 'The priority is to see that Dempo is at the top again. Given my experience as a player and secretary and even in my dept (at Customs and Excise), I feel I fit the role,' said Lector. Five-time national champions Dempo returned to the I-League last season. Coached by Samir Naik, Dempo even managed to reach the second spot in the standings after the first five rounds with only three foreign signings instead of the maximum six. However, injuries and transfers saw them go through a rough phase, but they eventually finished strongly in seventh place. Their key focus in the past decade has been the residential academy in Ella, Old Goa, which has produced promising talent. Recently, their very own Jodric Abranches was the only representative from Goa in India's SAFF U-19 winning campaign with Bibiano Fernandes as coach. 'I have to oversee objectives, especially the residential academy. There is nothing better than an academy. The academy is a place where you get everything, technical part, discipline, diet. It's a great opportunity to look into it, so that we can continue producing quality players,' said Lector. Lector has signed a one-year contract with Dempo which can be reviewed and re-signed annually. 'I would need time to see what is happening at the club. But of course, I feel I will be in a position to interact with youngsters and motivate them as well. Having achieved off the field, in that sense I can be of help to them,' said Lector.

Nintendo Switch Online drops a game from its lineup for the first time ever, and the "concerning" move has fans worried: "This sets an upsetting precedent"

In a seemingly monumental move for consumers, Nintendo has announced the end of service for one of its Switch Online games – and understandably, users are worried about what that means for the future of digital gaming. Revealing the upcoming removal in a new online post, Nintendo states that Spike Chunsoft's Super Formation Soccer will cease distribution next month on March 28. The game, a title available via the company's Super Famicom Nintendo Switch Online lineup in Japan, will also not be accessible to players who already have the service downloaded. This has placed a concerning reminder in peoples' minds: digital games aren't permanent. A recent Reddit thread highlights Nintendo Switch users' thoughts on the matter, with many agreeing that it's not the one game's removal that's causing concern but rather the removal of any game at all. "While Super Soccer isn't some massive loss by itself, it does set a precedent that games can be removed," writes one player. "I thought a nice strength of NSO over other streaming services was the library only grew, never removed games." "This sets an upsetting precedent," states another. Elsewhere in the comments, people try to work out why Nintendo is removing Super Formation Soccer from its lineup in Japan. "This is the first game from the Nintendo platforms to be taken down," a user explains. "I'm assuming the license is expiring, and they decided they wouldn't renew – this will happen to every game on the NSO that's not owned by Nintendo eventually." There's no telling what Nintendo's reasoning here truly was or whether the company will do the same with any other digital title from its Switch Online catalogues in the future, but it's probably safe to say the only way users can ensure they own a game forever for now is by obtaining a physical copy – as viable as that is in an era of the ever-expanding digital library for games on all platforms, from Nintendo's current console to the upcoming Switch are the best Nintendo Switch games to play right now while you wait for more news.

Nintendo Switch Online Losing Its First Retro Game Proves Why We Need Virtual Console

Nintendo is doing something the company has never done before: Next month, it will remove a retro game from its the Nintendo Switch Online's classic catalog. Since launching the Nintendo Switch Online classic service in 2018, the company behind Mario has never removed a game. Instead, it's slowly built up a decently-sized library of first- and third-party retro games from across multiple console libraries. However, subscribers in Japan will be losing a retro game in March, even if they already downloaded it. On February 27, Nintendo Japan quietly announced that Super Famicon game Super Formation Soccer will be removed from the Japan's Nintendo Switch Online service on March 28. Nintendo confirmed that even players who have already downloaded and installed the game on their Switch consoles will no longer be able to play Super Formation Soccer after March 28. At the moment it appears that this title is only being removed from Nintendo Switch Online in Japan. In America the game was released as Super Soccer for the SNES. So far Nintendo hasn't announced plans to remove this version from NSO's classic catalog over here. That might be because while Super Formation Soccer was published by Spike Chunsoft in Japan, worldwide the game was published by Nintendo. So it would appear that whatever deal was in place to license the game is expiring soon in Japan, but that deal likely doesn't apply in regions where Super Soccer was published by Nintendo itself. While I doubt there was a giant audience for Super Soccer on Nintendo Switch, it's still bad news to see a game removed from the classic catalog. Although games are removed from Game Pass and PS Plus all the time, people can still buy those games digitally. With Nintendo, these games are locked behind the NSO subscription service and once removed, you can no longer play them on Switch. Just another good reason why Nintendo needs to bring back the Virtual Console for Switch 2. . For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
