The 49-year-old is departing just three days after a humiliating 5-0 loss in the Champions League final against Paris St Germain and will not lead Inter in the upcoming Club World Cup. Inzaghi and Inter ended the season on a disappointing note after finishing second in Serie A, one point behind champions Napoli, and were knocked out in the Coppa Italia semi-finals 4–1 on aggregate by city rivals AC Milan. "The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a four-year journey, during which I gave everything," Inzaghi said in a separate statement. Inzaghi's tenure ended having won six trophies in total, one Serie A Scudetto, two Coppa Italia triumphs and three Supercoppa Italia trophies. "I want to dedicate one last word to the millions of Nerazzurri (Inter) fans who cheered me on, cried and suffered in difficult moments and laughed and celebrated in the six triumphs we experienced together," he added. "I will never forget you." Italian media reports said that Inzaghi will join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal in the near future and will lead them in the Club World Cup in the United States. Three-Way Battle – AC Milan, Inter & Napoli Contemplating Ex Juventus Boss Managerial Option

AC Milan, Inter, and Napoli could embroil in a bidding war to capture the services of ex-Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri. Per Tuttosport via FCInterNews, all three clubs see the 57-year-old as a decent candidate to fill potential managerial vacancies. Advertisement Though it's all uncertain, Inter have already started preparing for life after Simone Inzaghi. Courted by Al-Hilal, the 49-year-old could leave San Siro after four years to embrace the reaches of Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Beppe Marotta is in the market for a high-profile replacement. Despite his dismal second stint in Turin, Massimiliano Allegri has emerged as a fitting profile. Indeed, January's Supercoppa Italia success won't be enough to help the Portuguese preserve his job. Advertisement Then, there's Napoli. Antonio Conte may wave goodbye to Stadio Diego Maradona immediately after winning the Scudetto. Furthermore, he could reunite with Juventus in the coming months, forcing Aurelio De Laurentiis to search for replacements. As things stand, Allegri's future will be among major talking points this summer.

Federico Bernardeschi reveals he was close to joining Napoli

Former Juventus winger Federico Bernardeschi has revealed that he was very close to signing for Napoli back in 2022. In an interview given to Il Mattino (via the Italian revealed that the deal was very close to being agreed upon with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis having calls with the player's agent. He said: 'Yes, I was really close to Napoli in 2022. The president called my agent at the time and the negotiations got underway. Napoli is a place that gives you a lot, it lives for football and lives only for football. Something like that can only please a player. Then things didn't materialize and I flew here to Canada', said Bernardeschi. The now 31-year-old broke through on loan at Crotone in 2013/14 before a 3 year spell back at Fiorentina where he arguably played the best football of his career. Naturally this attracted a lot of attention and it was Juventus who signed him in the summer of 2017 for €40 million. At Juventus, he spent a considerable period of his career, winning the Serie A title 3 times, the Coppa Italia twice and the Supercoppa Italia the same number of times. While he was never quite seen as a star for the team, he still made 183 appearances for them, notching up 26 goal contributions. It is important to note that his time at the club was often disrupted by injuries. In 2022, he left the Old Lady and was in talks with Napoli like he has now revealed. While the deal never materialized, Napoli went on to have a historic season, winning Serie A after decades. Bernardeschi instead moved to the MLS with Toronto FC where he is still playing. He has made 87 appearances for the Canadian club, participating in 37 goals. He was also adjudged an MLS All Star in 2024. At Toronto, he interestingly plays with Napoli lengend Lorenzo Insigne. Bernardeschi also was a part of the 2020 Euros winning squad with the Italian national team for whom he has made 39 appearances. Kaulik Mitra | GIFN
