6 arrested for raping minor girl in Gumla
Gumla: Six youths were arrested on charges of abduction and gang rape of a minor girl in Gumla district, police said on Tuesday. The accused, who were arrested on Monday, were identified as Surendra Nagesia, Bimal Kumar, Sanju Ram, Dinesh Tirkey, Arpan Roshan Soreng and Amardeep Kullu. At night, when all four had gone out of the event to attend nature's call, the accused, believed to be in an inebriated condition, followed them and groped three girls managed to flee, the accused caught one and raped her in nearby forest. After she fell unconscious, the accused thought she was dead and ran away. In early hours of Sunday, after the girl gained consciousness, she somehow returned home and informed her parents after which they informed police. 6 arrested for raping minor in Jharkhand
Six persons were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl in Jharkhand's Gumla district, police said Tuesday. On Saturday, the accused, aged between 18 and 24 years, had come to attend a wedding in a village. They were a part of the wedding procession that had arrived from Simdega district. Police said the minor, along with three other girls attending the wedding, went out to relieve herself when six men approached and started to molest them. 'Three girls managed to escape, but the men took one minor girl into the forest and gangraped her. After the girl was unconscious they threw her into a bush in the forest,' said the SP, Gumla, Shambhu Kumar Singh. After an FIR was registered by the victim's father on Sunday, the police searched various locations and arrested all six accused on Monday. They were remanded in judicial custody. The arrested accused were identified as Surendra Nagesia, Vimal Kumar and Sanju Ram from the Sursang police station area of Gumla district, and Arpan Roshan Soreng, Dinesh Tirkey alias Nitin and Amardeep Kullu, residents of the Pakartand police station area of Simdega district. The girl has undergone a medical examination and the arrested men have confessed to their crime, police said.
